[Question] Adding homemade aircraft?

Hey guys - I love flying helis in PR. I know its sad but I often spend a couple of hours flying round empty servers in hueys

ops:
Anyways I know that theres not going to be a massive number of new helis added to PR so I thought " Ill design my own for local server fun " ( again

ops: )
Ive spent the last couple of nights playing around on 3d max ( damn its a steep learning curve on your own :S ) but Ive not been able to find any threads on how to add them into a game ( I think its going to be months away anyway! ) Can anyone point me in the right direction or if there isnt a thread, explain how its done?
PS MODs please delete and PM the link if Ive missed the thread - cheers!

lol Im meant models - it was late! homemade a/c ftw!
PS if youre starting out on modelling on 3d max - dont try a heli as your first model. Try a box or something!

Having said that Im getting there - its like PR - at times very frustrating, but its addictive.
Ive been using 3d max now for about 15 hours and this is as much as Ive managed ( but I could do it again in about an hour now) Its based on a Bell 407 - it will probably be redone about 1000 times at the rate Im going at! It looks like my OP has been answered as well - Ive noticed an amazing modeller asking a similar question to me yesterday - If he cant do it, its not looking good for me.

WOW! Thats really smooth. Keep working on it, and dont give up yet. A heli would be IMO much too difficult for a new modeller, but I think we have been proven wrong a few times before. Good luck.

That one was scrapped. Youre right its hard work doing a heli, I havent a clue what Im doing, but Im getting there slowly. I spent 2 hours last night searching the internet trying to find out how to merge 2 things and it turned out it only took one button
I Spent a couple of hours on this though.

Im going to try and keep this one so, I'll do a bit more tonight when I get in and hopefully it will look a bit more like a heli!

When doing a symmetry modifier, move all the verts to the same X value so that it doesnt look like its being split apart. Its hard to give you more advice at the stage your at right now, but if you need help give the thread a nice bump.

Give bell 206 to the insurgents

that would be funnier than hell to see!

no, to expensive and unlikely that they have pilots, but the militia could perhaps use it one some maps

Thanks for the links. The way Im learning 3d is from these to tutorials:
3ds Max Resources | Tutorials | Modeling 1951 Mercedes Benz bus in 3ds Max - Part one - Page 7
ftp://ftp.futurenet.com/pub/arts/tutorialfiles/TDW58.tut_model_grb.pdf
The first one is great as its totally step by step for beginners, and although its for a bus, its all transferable for a heli.
The second one is a bit too advanced at the moment, but its still been usefull for one or two things.
I started another model ( again ) last night as I understand how the mesh works a bit better now. Hopefully I wont have to scrap another one!
Its funny you mention the Bell 206 for the militia ( which I agree with frag is unrealistic ) The 407 a development of the 206, and the 407 is the basis of the new US Army ARH ( Little bird/OH-58D Kiowa replacement ). I was thinking of modelling the ARH, but theres no suitable reference shots and there isnt a final design yet

so it cant be done. The US Army will be taking delivery of it from next year ( If they dont have any more problems )
