Weapons on Safety

I did a search for this, and never seen it posted before (maybe because some may see it as a dumb idea.. but hear me out)
How about adding a safety feature to weapons. (I know it may seem a bit over kill but I think it will add to realism)
on most guns we can change between 1 round shots, to semi, burst, or full automatic... but is there a way to have a safety option? where the fire is set to 0.
The reason I say this is, there are times riding in the back of a supply truck where a player accidentally fires their weapon and kills a team mate.
If you are not in a hostile area, such as main base, or driving out of main base this could prevent some uneeded tk's.
I thought of it tonight after being tked twice this way... once in a supply truck, again in a black hawk...
I know it sounds like a bit much, but its just a suggestion.
May add a little more realism to the game when moving into a hostile area and your SL tells everyone to take off safety
I can see how it may cause an annoyance of switching firing modes
However, I have heard stories of guys who accidentally had their guns on safety trying to engage a target.
it may also add that bit of realism of slowing down the switch by a fraction of a second
again just a suggestion
