My suggestions for PR

First of all I want to say that I muchly appreciate the time and efforts you guys put in PR, I love the realism and (essential) teamwork, something you don't see in any other bf mods. And Project Reality is the only game so far that prevents me from playing Operation Flashpoint (another extreme realism game). But I have some suggestions for the next update.

1. Scope drift
---------------
I really think it would improve the realism and gameplay if there is some scopedrift while aiming. Since most of the rifles have a ACOG mounted, it's pretty easy to use it as a medium range sniper rifle, and pretty easy to make a kill just by using it that way. Scopedrift makes it a lot harder to make a kill on a long- and medium distance, and will force the player to avoid engaging enemies from a distance with an assault rifle. Scopedrift is also infuenced by physical performances (running) or injuries. so the longer you run, the more scopedrift you will get.

2. Replace the M16a4 Assault rifle by the M4a1 Cabine.
------------------------------------------------------
The m16a4 rifle has recently been replaced by the m4a1 carbine in the Marine Corps. Maybe replace the m16 acog by m4 acog? This wouldn't really affect the gameplay tho, so therefore it isn't really necessary.

3. Red dote scope on the M249 SAW
---------------------------------
This is really bugging me when I'm playing as Automatic Machinegunner. I can't see a thing thru the M249's ironsight. Maybe add a red dot scope (not a ACOG, that would just make the SAW a very powerful "sniper rifle"). Red dote scopes are mounted on SAW's in real-life too so it would not only improve the gameplay, but also the realism.

That's it for now.

Hi and welcome to the froums.

All of your suggestions have been suggested and fully talked before, next time please use the search button before posting a suggestion.

1. Weapon Sway, or "Scope Drift" as you put it is simply not possible in BF2, is in BF2142 but not in BF2. If it was, we would have done it a long time ago ;)

2. I'm sorry your mistaken. The USMC use the M16A4 as the primary assault rifle, they hardly use the M4A1. You are most likely thinking of the US Army who use the M4 (not the M4A1) which we will also be adding once the US Army come to PR.

3. We would have to remodel the SAW to even make this possible, and we have no plans on doing this, all factions in there current state have irons on there LMGs and its working out fine as it is :)

Thanks for posting.

I used the search function first, but didn't found anything about the scope drift, guess I'll have to look harder next time :-D

about the m16a4 - m4 issue. I guess we're both kinda right

"The basic infantry weapon of the U.S. Marine Corps is the M16 assault rifle family, with a majority of Marines being equipped with the M16A2 or M16A4 service rifles, or more recently the M4 carbine"

Yeah, I once was confronted by someone on the same issue, and that last line in Wikipedia isnt all too explanatory. "or more recently the m4 carbine" doesnt really say in what numbers, it just says that the m4, recently, has been issued to some. Whereas the m16 might still vastly outweigh the m4 in sheer numbers... And when youre looking for outside info, having not served yourself, that kinda leaves you without much to go on :) Thanks wikipedia ;)

Heh, welcome to the forums. Alot of the time its the word choice for searches. I know I would have used "scope sway" not drift, which is probably why you didnt get anything... but hey, it happens...

M4A1 delivers flexible firepower to Marines
Although currently only available in small numbers to Marines, the M4A1-the carbine version of 'America's assault rifle'-serves alongside 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing Marines here at Miramar and more notably in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.
"Our unit has approximately four (M4A1s) and they are issued to Marines serving on security detail for the (commanding general)," said Lance Cpl. Samuel Beglau, armory technician, Marine Wing Headquarters Squadron 3. "Right now the weapons are in Iraq with deployed Marines and for them the (M4A1) is a great advantage because of its compact size as they often need to move quickly in tight quarters. The carbine also allows them to better maneuver while being able to deliver a lot of firepower which is sometimes hard to do with just a pistol or even some submachine guns. So far, everyone who has used the weapon has been satisfied with its usefulness despite the decreased muzzle velocity due to the slightly shorter barrel length common to carbines."
"The M4A1 is typically used by our Special Reaction Teams who,..."
from the horses mouth, wiki isn't a very good source often. So, they have it but not many- Which is the way I think PR is currently portraying them, since only crewmen and SF have them.

You talking about when you turn? Meh, its only visual, doesnt turn your aim off from center any. Besides, personally, Im not a big fan of it, your hands dont lag behind as much as it makes it look like. Looks like they have floppy jello arms.

Unless theres a new version where the sight actually moves/floats when you are in the scoped view.. if so, then yes, use that...

Ironsight sway is currently in FH2. On every weapon. The rifle is most noticable.

I want single player maps... i tried creating code in the

EAgames/bf2/mods/pr/levels/whatever map)/info

and open the code and place a single player line of code adding that map to the single player

ex. mapname = "16" players = "1" -and so on-------(single player)

instead of mapname= players ="16" - and so on --------(multiplayer)

))))))))))))))the map showed up under the single player but the game crashes when the level loads...

))))))))))))))Is this because the moders made no "bot paths" for project reality .75?

-a bot path is the code that conducts the computer players (cp)throughout the map

))))))))))))IF THAT IS THE REASON I WOULD LIKE TO TALK TO THE MAKERS ABOUT v.8 having single player...i am so disapointed and i dont know how many times this topic has been shown and nothing has changed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

if you have FH2 then its easier to see.... and the ammount of sway changes per stance.... i think ive made a suggestion awhile ago. Anyway, its pretty cool and i also like how when you get up from prone with a tommygun theres an animation like hes pushing off the ground.

Edit: 099TMO not the place to ask that and theres already singleplayer for PR in the community mods section.

Ehm, wrong thread perhaps?

To the topic: I don't recall the FH2 sights sway either, but even if it is there, I believe it's just visual and has no dependence on the actual gun accuracy.

There is a singleplayer mini-mod. Just download it and you get most of the maps with SP support. (oww... i'm late. That was a reply to the singleplayer-rant)

well even if thats the truth Deadfast, then the sway would still confuse you and throw off your aim kinda like weapon sway. And yes, i think its all visual but still useful.

The problem is, how would you know you're aiming at the right spot? In real life you could at least in theory line up the weapon perfectly, you would know when the weapon is lined up correctly, or when it would be. But in-game, if the ironsights would just move around, how would you tell the difference between correct and wrong aiming? I think it wouldnt work that well.

And aren't some guys working on a more realistic swayish thingie?

i dont think there is a current project, but ive found that when putting your crosshairs on an enemy no matter where it sways, it always hits where the crosshairs are. I say go for FH2's way of doing it.
