Tanks/APCs/Anti-Air vehicles = Crewman Kit
Planes/Helicopters = Pilot Kit
Trucks = Engineer and Officer kit.

trucks - engineer or officer
apc/tank - crewman
jet/chopper - pilot

Squad leader can spawn in with officer kit, OR request it from usual locations
Engineer is a basic class
Crewman and Pilot can be requested from the usual locations.

Dude, i would lay off at least tanks or APCs if you are just starting, i know when i first started in PR, it was a mass of requestables and confusing things, adding in tanks, there controls etc, would have made me even more confused!

Make sure to read the manual and, like already suggested in the manual, try the life of an infantryman as squadmember before you start the more difficult things.

As everyone has pointed out, read the manual. You'll learn a lot.

It's a shame really!!! Because most noobs don't even bother to read it.
The amount of times i've had a gunner for my apc/tank that claims they know how to play the game yet they don't even know you can change ammo and zoom with the weapon is unbelievable.

Infact there should be a tooltip explaining how to change ammo and zoom the main gun...

Should be a requirement to read the manual before you launch the game :S

Hi there,

as a fellow newbie to PR, i just started a few days ago, i can tell you the following tips:

Read the manual, it explains alot what's in the game and higlights significant changes from BF2.
Browse this site's content. very much like the manual, it alot alot of info on the game.

This, i found by myself, some people actually posted training videos on youtube, search for them, it helps to adapt to gameplay.

These are really good for starting, it explain basic infantry, some of their specialties and very importantly teaches some basic Squad tactics.

Part 1: YouTube - Project Reality Squad Training pt. 1 of 5
Part 2: YouTube - Project Reality Squad Training pt. 2 of 5
Part 3: YouTube - Project Reality Squad Training pt. 3 of 5
Part 4: YouTube - Project Reality Squad Training pt. 4 of 5
Part 5: YouTube - Project Reality Squad Training pt. 5 of 5

Have fun online

The PR exe should check if the manual has been opened if not it will only give a failure message that stands "You fail". BUt welcome to PR join a sqaud where it stands eng voip or something its higher possibility to get help with things in thoose squads then squads with default names.

In the age before cd keys, acctually in the age before CD burners, pirating was done by walking to your friends house and copying the whole game on 55 floppy disks, ofc there still was some pirating protection, some games needed a password to start, A prompt told you to look up the 54th word on the 197 page of the game manual and enter it, if it was incorrect the game would exit.

This should be possible, afaik the PR.exe switches around the shader files and then boots the BF2.exe with the PR mod path, if we were to incorperate some oldschool antipirating protection inbetween the switching of shader files and the initialization of the bf2.exe, a simple question about PR gameplay, if you answer it wrong it starts the PR guide/manual if you answer it correct you get to play PR.

Another sollution would be to have a small test during the installation of PR, forcing people to study the manual before they even can install the game.

Forget about trying to make people to read the manual, if someone doesn't want to read it then he's not going to read it.
