I thought i would just let everyone know because i have seen many people ask questions about this before. People are asking why ea/dice modeled the chinese attack chopper to look nothing like its real life counterpart. The answer is because although they named it the wz10 it is actually modelled after the "Agusta A129 Mangusta"

this is the "wz10"

and this is the "Agusta A129 Mangusta"

Now that's just stupid. Long live EA, right? That Augusta isn't even a Chinese helicopter!

not really - no one knew what the WZ10 looked like until very recently and it is not a common piece of hardware, assuming it is even out of the prototype phase yet

better yes, but AFAIK still just a mocup and not one of the flying prototypes, but yes thats how the look (notice that the turbines on the render look completely different)

@ spaz: thats just a opinion and the fact is, it should look different than it does, and i perfere the way it really looks, it has something of the comanche (r.i.p.)

They probably selected the Mangusta as well because most sources mention that the Z-10 is going to be of a similar class and capability as the A-129; basically it's a tank destroyer with fewer capabilities than the AH-64 Apache.

This is because AugustaWestland (manufacturers of the A-129 Mangusta) provided technical support for Changhe Aircraft Industries Corporation in the development of the WZ-10, along with Pratt & Whitney and Eurocopter.

So yeah, whilst it's not a carbon copy of the Mangusta, it's very similar. Using the 129 for an game model made as much sense as just guessing.

nope, it is one of the flying prototypes, render is probably either really old or a fan made interpretation

And EA assumed that China didn't even have an attack helo before the WZ10? It wouldn't make sense to guess on a prototype WZ10 when they could have used China's then-current attack helicopter and buffed it to the level of the Cobra.

BF2 is set in the future; no point using the Z9 when it's being replaced by the 10, and the 10 is a very similiar bird to the A-129... so why make a big deal out of it?

Especially when the vast majority of players have no idea what the Z-10 looks like and more importantly, didn't give a fetid dingo's kidney either.
