On removing the scoreboard during play.

Maybe this has already been brought up, but here goes anyways.
Would it be possible to get rid of the score board access during play ?
I see multiple reasons for this:

- Not very realist knowing how many people you 'ow3neD' ...

- Its an alternative way to know if you killed that guy you've been shooting at for half an hour, you just keep track of your kills on the board and check it to see if it grows. I know i have a tendancy to do it (yes ok i am ashamed of it )
and its a loop after having taken away the "you've killed XXXX" message.

- It would would keep peoples mind more on the team play rather then track the fact that they are first or last in the scoreboard.

the only disadvantage i can see in removing it is when someone is on a TK spree you would have a hard time verifying it by not seeing his score.

I do think the scoreboard should be toned down, but not completely removed. It serves other purposes, finding out the IP, map votes (!!!), squad organisation.

I think the enemy's spawn status (alive = red, dead = grey) should be removed. That way if you want to know if you killed that guy, you'd have to keep track of your kills, which seems to me to be quite silly.

Edit: bad grammar

... that is exactly why it should be taken away ...

but of course i'm only speaking of the scores themselves (and the life/death situation), the vote, server info, ping etc are usefull and have nothing to do with the realitsic approach.

I dont know what code is available to edit, but just taking out the visibility of the numeric scores would be enough, you could even leave the relative position of each position in their team it would matter much (we all know Dedmon will be 1st anyways ;) )

I agree. Just leave everything else on there, like teamwork score, deaths perhaps, pings etc. Take away the kill thingy.

lol well ya in fact that would be in fact a great idea to leave the teamwork score and only that one as a score (not the kills nor the total points) in that way even if they whant to 'stat pad' and constantly watch their score going up (like cows watching trains go by) at least they are helping out rather then running after kills.

just have to love all the feeback and brainstorming we have on these forums ;)

Yes its a game, but we are trying to push it in the way of reality, and in reality you dont really know exactly how many you have killed.
And remember I'm speaking of taking it out only during play, at the end of the round you still have a summary scoreboard with all the kills and such. So you still have the gaming aspect, but its appart from the actuall gameplay immersion .

Thats why keeping the team work score is a necessary evil (come to think of it its about the only reason to keep it)

I know i'm pushing for it, but I really think this would help the players to keep focused on the real issue during battle, helping your team to win.
And that should be your only consideration (and keeping alive of course)

Something that was discussed last night in one of the servers is if it is possible to remove kill scores. The only time you would gain points is either kill assists or any of the normall assist abilities ie. capping flags, healing, support.
I think it would be a great improvement to the whole teamwork aspect of the game and discourage the lone wolf "how many kills am I getting" attitude.

I dont think you have to take it out completly, just the fact of not having it under your nose all the time will change the perception people will have of the game.
and if you can only have kill assits, i'm shure they'll find a way to only half-shoot a guy whlie his team mate finishes him -> the making of the lone-wolf twins syndrome ;p

Ded, you have no complaints because you're just damn good. Also, I probably wouldn't want it off if I was getting first place every round(not saying that you want it kept for this selfish reason).

I myself am guilty of seeing if I've killed people with the score board, though I don't do it too often. I also don't like my score effecting my gameplay. I remember I was playing Karkland and I was in second(behind Dedmon of course) and I was doing my very best to keep the guy who was in third under me(nothing evil of course). Me changing my gameplay for points was my undoing and I ended up getting fifth or something.

I'm all for the scoreboard removal in game.

Good Point.
