it would help if you posted in the correct place for a start, the "Modding Tutorials" is for Modding Tutorials, not Modding Questions...
moved to the correct place.

Grab the PoE 3ds max tools (should be able to find them on the bfeditor site, or maybe they're linked here somewhere). Then from the bf2 menu in max go to 'necessary tools', then 'import skeleton' (or something like that). The file you want is called 1p_setup.ske. It's in mods/bf2/objects_client.zip/soldiers/common/animations iirc. That's just the skeleton - you can import the mesh too if you want, but you'll have to manually weight all the vertices, as the weighting is lost on import.

Sounds like your max scripts might be broken.
Even so, importing the mesh won't help unless you have a few spare hours to weight the vertices - otherwise it won't move with the skeleton.
It might be worth searching for a scene already set up with the 1p player - I'm not sure, but there might be one floating around somewhere.

it would be great if someone could load the file up with the mesh that everybody could download i think it would help a lot people to animate there own weapons etc.

What are you trying to import, the 1p skeleton, the 3p skeleton or a weapon/item mesh?
Edit: Nvm, I see now that you are trying to import the soldier mesh.
Im sorry, I cant help you with that, because I havent managed to figure out that myself yet.
You could do what I do in the mean time, and use only the skeleton without the mesh, it works just as well but you'll need to check the result in the editor once in a while.

I think this will do the trick, I was pleasently suprised when this didnt take hours to do, but minutes. Like they say, easy come easy go. I dont know if this works completely, I havent had time to test it fully yet.
1pskeleton.max
