First of all: I know that posting pictures and information is not even close to develope the army for PR.
It´s just an idea for the time after the new modded armies are finished.

(I thought of starting to help with some modding and developement work, but I still have to learn it since it sure won´t be easy) I might try something and see if I´m able to do it and if so, if you appreciate my work .


I think it would be great Idea to introduce an African Army, like an African Union Army. I only found weapon systems from South Africa though but they might be the most advanced army in Africa anyways.

My Idea would be to let the African Union fight against Rebels similar to the Insurgents and or conventional armies. The fights could take place in a new jungle terrain as well as in the desert or the veld.

I think it would be a good idea because a big percentage of the conflicts and wars in the world take place in Africa.

Post this in the PR Community forum, maybe someone will consider making this into a community mod, other than that, I'm not sure if this will make the cut

the point is, that there are already enough community factions, so don't think that something like that will happen also i have to admit that there are some nice weapons

I was always interested in both an AU and UN faction tbh (or EU faction LOLz!!). A long time ago a dev mentioned a Somalia map was in the mix, but I think it was dropped. - even if it wasnt dropped I dont think they were making a new faction for it.

get a mod team togather and try to make it, I don't think the devs will spend there time on this now.

btw, the Rooivalk will be in next AIX release and the Nyala has been made for canadian faction

Similar ideas have been presented in the past. Personally i think that an african uniion army would be interesting. It would be a good excuse to see a dominance of black soldiers - as seen previously in vanilla BF2. ( i don't care what the politically acceptable phrase is of the day )

The Ethiopian army are currently heavily featured in fighting with insurgents involved in somalia, and this and future engagements would be interesting.

China vs. African factioned army would be interesting, considering the huge chinese influence in africa at the moment.

Also interesting would be MEC vs. this faction considering the Quatar factor in Somalia at the moment.

Something along the lines of the ETHIOPIAN ARMY has..

1 - Relevance in todays conflicts, and involvement with insurgency
2 - Duplication of a lot of "Russian" (sic.) equipment, allowing little work to achieve the majority of the army loadout.
3 - Potential for interesting insurgency style maps, with re-skinned Militia Faction tanks and armour to make up the majority of the force.
4 - Nice assymetric potential with high tech armies deployed with little armour vs. older design african formations.

We do need some African representation, I think South America ids pretty desperate too. I think when a couple of community factions are complete then maybe something will happen.

That equipment roster is a bit of a mashup of the old, new, cheap and very ****ing expensive though isn't it?

I like all the info but IMO, a Canadian Army with some F/A-18 Hornets would rock more. =)

i really like this idea, i'd definetly like more deep jungle combat, some thick bushes to hide in, back in BF1942 FH i'd love to hide in bushes and pick people off as the come off Gold beach.

as well i'd think it would be easy to make this addition, just reskin the uniforms and vehichles, make the people african and use the AKs, i dont think the majority of troops are using any of the new weapons yet. not exactly cheap and as well the aks are more durable and cost effective

As far as I know a Canadian army is planned and the developement has started.

If there would be a african faction in PR it would probably be realistic to have most of the soldiers have AKs and other low budget weapons. But it´s not only the faction I care about also the terrain could be really intersting.
Like you said in BF 1942 one could still really hide in bushes, which is kinda rare now.

I don't think this will be made into a community mod, BUT, I really like a thread like this, sort of like an imaginary faction for PR showing all the vehicles, weapons, and soldiers etc. Just the thread on it's own is quite interesting. Would be cool if someone would do a thread for like .. The Iranian army, or a realistic Chinese army.

What about a civil war? I dont know if it is overstepping the line, but i only mention it, because it might provide a way to have AKs versus AKs instead of basic iron sites like insurgents versus higher technology based civilisations. I'm interested in seeing the same weapons used against each army.

Are you psychic? I've been cooking up ideas in my head for the Iranians, who they'd fight, where they'd fight. I even have a sat dish hooked up to catch some Iranian channels, which probably gave me the idea while surfing through 300+ channels.

Even saw footage of their army once, they were showing off their vehicles, troops and naval units. A group of soldiers exited LCAC-type craft and went prone one by one on the sandy shore. I knew then that would be one army meant for PR.

Iran vs MEC (the Iran-Iraq war on a smaller scale). Iran vs Insurgents (a shoe-in). Iran vs Militia (Russia's close, and the Militia may go through Georgia to smuggle "goods"). Iran vs PLA, a long shot, but PLA desert skins are in the works, all one needs is the proper scenario. At the current moment, it would not be realistic to pit Iran versus a Western coalition, although tension is present, no military action has been taken. Then again, no military action has been taken against China.

Once I learn more about the editor, and about the equipment themselves, I could do little prototypes to make the Iranian forces a little closer to becoming a virtual reality.

an african army is a brilliant idea. it helps expand current day story lines gives new maps , and gives the mec army another team to kick its ***
