Server Admin Guidelines?

Someone raised a point, that the influx of new servers due to the publicity drives has resulted in servers where you can't really experience PRMM to its finest.
I think we should agree on a standard, which I think the GloryHoundz server comes closest to PRMM perfection.
Were talking map sizes, spawn times, flag capture areas etc etc.

Will do this as part of map & level design guidelines over the coming couple of weeks.
Am thinking we look at something like:
PRMM Hardcore
PRMM Relaxed
where the two define server settings aligned with those descriptoins.
Waddya think?

Just out of curiosity, why fraction the Mod like that on a server level? I would think it would be fustrating if you are a 'hardcore' PR player, and all you can find are 'Relaxed' servers, and vice-versa.

I'm not sure about others, but by downloading PRMM, I expect the hardcore stuff that goes with it. Just my opinion.
Its worth a go. I'd think (or like to think) we'd still have more Hardcore, than relaxed servers on the list

After playing some recent matches with the newcomers, I could really go for the hardcore server right NOW!!!!!!!!!

Thing is, nothing would stop an annoying player from going "I'm hardcore!" and using that server too...

server rules are verry important.
imagine 15sec spawntime and 120sec to get the flag neutral,
the enemy can kill you A LOT TIMES while hanging out at the flag
i like playing on the FpsFocus.com servers, nice rules, no bullshit

this should completly forbidden to change by serveradmins, it´s part of the map

strange, cause i've been on servers that needed you to be right on the flag.

I agree 100%. On my newest map I played around a lot with the caputre radius to get it perfect for the area the CP was in. For a server to override than and make it smaller (annoying) or even worse, larger, is unacceptable. IMHO.

fyi, AAS changes the CP area based on the number of players by default.

Yeah Gents there are a number of server settings such as Commender enable, AAS CP Balance, AAS Radii Scaling and many other variables that can dramatically affect gameplay.
I think we need to standardize these as "recommendations" for Server Admins.
In terms of potential fracturing with hardcore versus relaxed configs... I agree that's a concern. Just floating it as a suggestion. While there is nothing stopping any player from going onto the hardcore servers... they may dislike it when the spawn times are dynamically adjusting to be longer with more and more deaths, you are forced to be in squads, etc.
Again... just a thought to provoke some discussion. Personally I'd much prefer "hardcore" and "relaxed" PR configurations. I'd certainly gravitate towards the hardcore. I guess I am hopeful that we can develop a player base large enough to populate servers with slightly different configurations and keep the gaming environments matched to the interests of the players.
Once we get past the 1.2 patch frenzy we'll get figuring some of this stuff out.... but any ideas y'all have would be great to discuss them here and now.
