you'll get up steep terrain easier by pressing shift with all vehicles ...ive got the feeling that vehicles get a bit faster on flat terrain but not much

Those suicide cars Insurgents have get some good acceleration. That's the most noticeable example of Shift. Some refer to it as the 'nitro boost', 'speed booster' and my favorite 'a little extra oomph'.
Cars and APCs definitely have the Shift boost. Motorbikes don't have them I think.

Well I think of it more like upshifting to a higher gear like a car. If none of you have noticed the vehicles switch gears like an automatic car.

Agree, I'm magnetically attracted to light poles.

Village bridges aren't a problem as you can speed over the one segment ones with enough speed.

Yea opps and the accelerate does make the cars go faster, they start to shake like the crazy old blackhawk used to.

Tanks, its hard to tell. I guess it doesnt do anything tbh but the way to test is climb a steep hill as much as possible, then just before it starts to slip back press shift and it might start going forward again.
It only lasts a couple of seconds, its turbo overboost.
Something like a porsche would have this but also the tanks are basically massive 21 litre turbo diesels so might have this feature
