I'm not sure if it's possible to get the heightmap directly into the editor. But you could get an image of the area you want to map and add it as a colormap. There is a tutorial by DesertFox in the Tutorial section.

if you can find a r/l heightmap its not hard at all to get ingame. The problem is finding it.

It is much better overall to crate your own one. If I looked hard enough I probaly could have found some kinda heightmap of muttrah, but I didn't want the terrain to be 100% the same for lots of reasons. The dock is much smaller than the r/l one so the carrier had some where to go, there are mountins for choppers to use as cover and other things which are different than in r/l

if you want to make a good map you really dont want to work off a generated or r/l terrain, crate it yourself and put some love into it.

Most high resolution height maps in europe are tightly controlled, and as Rhino points out, they wouldnt be alot of use anyway. Have to disagree on the generated terrain though - this is definatly the way to go, unless your map is fairly flat. It wont save you much time by using a generated map, as youll have to adjust it loads, but its the only way to get a really realistic looking terrain.

you want to make a realistic Op Market Garden or do you just want to make the one from BF1942?

If you want to make a realistic Op Market Garden, LOL! good luck. The real one was spread over a huge area, was I'm guessing 100, 200 miles or something it was spread across taking like 8 or so major bridges on just as many rivers? dont quote my figures as I dont know them excatly I'm just taking rough guesses but I'm pretty sure they are close.

Unless you where planning on only doing one bridge kinda like BF1942 did?

If you want to recrate the BF1942 one, then you are not allowed to use BF1942 heightmaps and it wasn't based on a real terrain anyways.

Pick a section of it and use that. As Rhino said, the operation took place over a huge area. From the frontline to Arnhem was something like 68 k/m (not 100% sure on that).

I wanna do the Arnhem part and driel (where the polish landed),oosterbeek a village wolfheze with one of the big LZ's. :) but make it more closer than RL so it would be abit more together. but still the feeling that you are with the british landing on the ginkelse hei, and going towards Oosterbeek setting up a HQ and make a push towards arnhem with artillery support from driel ;) , i thought it was only 5 bridges. and i only want to do the part of the airborne drops. and such i allready have an whole idea painted out and such in paint.

Ohyeah ^^ i live close near the british HQ from then..its now a museum, and we have airdrop with
C130 transport planes once every year at the ginkelse hei as memorial.. looks cool to see it, theirs even all kinds of WW2 stuff driving up their at that day, we even have veterans jumping out of the planes somethimes :P .. look weard to see those old mans jumping.. hehe
