An Infantry Transport Suggestion

To me transports really are one of the less "thought out" roles in terms of team-work and the grander scheme of things in PR. I don't know if there are plans for transport additions in future patches, but I thought I'd give some suggestions on what I think would be interesting to add for PR.

1) Commander specific orders for pilots/transport players.
Example: Say a squad just took the Factory but now have no vehicle and are about a 10 minute run from the next fight. Well, all the commander has to do is select the pilot of the Huey/Truck, and give them a way point to the squad in need of transport:

"Squad requesting Transport" followed by a red way-point on the squad (if the pilot accepts, if not, commander finds a different pilot or waits for the busy one to finish his run), pilot lands, picks them up, and then either the commander or squad leader can set another way point where they wish to be taken.

Only problem I see with this is I don't know how or if its even possible to give way points to people who aren't in your squad, so I guess it would be the commanders job to point them in the right direction.

2) Make Smoke Visible on Radar:
Example: PR already features red smoke, so give a different type of smoke to SL's/Officers for this very purpose: transport request. Same situation as above, but instead the SL throws smoke and that smoke creates an icon on the map for all air units to see (much like how the arty works, but smaller). When the smoke is thrown a message could be sent "requesting pickup" so transport crewmen would have both a visual and verbal notification. This would also rid the commander of having to do anything.

3) Requesting Air-lift.
I suppose this would be the simplest if the above are too hard or require too much work. Just add a "Requesting Air-lift" to the reponse/orders list, although then again we already have "requesting pick up"...so I don't really know where I'm going with this one.

All in all, I just thought these would be some interesting changes that, if implemented, would probably make air-transport much more common than seen currently. But that is just my opinion.

Quite nice ideas. The problem with "requesting pickup" is that you can't often tell where its coming from on a big map.

KP demonstrating his leetness as a mod :P

But good ideas, and as a BH pilot some of the time, would be very useful and stop me typing whilst flying and crashing!!

Well, we already got the landing zone markers that the commander can mark.
Or you could as always text message to a pilot for a pick up (Have had many squad leaders that did that, and worked)

@ 1) I like it, though don't think it is possible unless the transport the commander is ordering is a squad leader? In which case for it to work you need a transport squad and the transport squad leader should tell where he fellow transport members should transport people from.

@ 2) Could work with some tweaking, but don't even think it is possible to only target air units?

@ 3) Well it doesn't always have to be a air transport does it? can't it as well be a hummer/vodnik/truck?

By the way, I know there can only be 6 units in a humwee/vodnik (ergo 1 full squad)
Which bring up the idea of adding an extra slot to humwees/vodniks so they can be a transport asset (Perhaps the extra slot should be the co-driver position? You know next to the driver?)

Click on the 'NEED EXTRACT' in your commo rose, it puts a marker on the map.

You can also say in a vehicle 'Roger that a vehicle is on the way' to confirm that you are going to pick them up.

These have been in since v0.7 but are rarely used, perhaps they need better documentation.
