(How do I make a poll? lol)
I searched this,and I didn't find anything.But I probably missed it,I doubt this hasn't ever been brought up...
But anyways,I was just wondering,if any community modders,or anything would be interested in taking this up?If so,I could help map...
Just wondering,Becuase I've always wondered how it'd be to play as Special Forces units, with the PR gameplay, and etc...
Some possible Factions:
-USMC Force Recon
-U.S. Navy SEALS/SOCOM
-U.S Army Green Berets/Rangers/Delta Force
-British SAS/SBS
-Australian SASR/SAS
-GSG9
-GIGN
-Russian Spetsnaz
-ISF Special Forces?

Would be interesting if there was the option to force one third of the players on Team 1 and two thirds on Team 2 or something like that.

the point is, that special forces are ment to handel a bigger number of enemys and not a ratio of 1 agains 1, so it would make sence that you have a smaller better armed SF team fighting a bigger regular force, or they would have to get simply a longer spawntime as insurgents got a shorter one.
still your suggestion is not really new (and as long as you are in the forums you should know that) but i still have to agree that something like that could be fun, lets see, KP already has a HK416 and a HK417, that would make good weapons for SEALS, but what would even make it more special would be that the SF usually do not use any heavy equipment, so what would a map like bashra be, when you have SEALS fighting MEC and and MEC defends the city with tanks, but the seals only have light vehicles (choppers and hmmwves

Actually a third is still too many
Example:
US Team (e.g. SEALS): 10 players
INS Team: 30 players

Yea,I get ya gies now.
Kit Ideas Force Recon/SEALS/Rangers/Delta Force :
Scoped Rifleman - M4A1 R.I.S. (The M4 that the UK Spec Ops. has in PR)
Ironsights Rifleman - HK416
Automatic Rifleman - M249 SAW
Light AT (no heavy AT) - MP5A4/or regular vBF2 MP5 + AT4
Sniper - M82A1
Marksman - SR-25
Medic - ?
Combat Engineer - Benelli M4
Grenadier - M4+M203 (or) M16+M203

I think there were some silenced models of a few guns (e.g. MP5, the british M4) around somewhere, could be useful too, IF you get enough people to work on this and find a good balance. I wouldnt give them too uber gear tho, and not too many different colorful guns.
An idea would be:
Rifleman ironsights: Rifle or carbine with ironsights
Rifleman scoped: Rifle or carbine scoped (for example the HK416 with and without scope, for the MEC maybe their... ah, forgot the name, that 5.56mm G3 series gun thingie, for scoped the G3 with scope, blah blub)
Medic: Something for self defence only, carbine or rifle ironsights
Engineer: Also a weapon for self defence, maybe something silenced
Sniper: I wouldnt give them the .50's back, but doesnt really matter
Marksman: Marksman Rifle
LAT: scoped rifle/carbine
HAT: unscoped rifle/carbine, maybe smg
AR: LMG
Spec Ops: Maybe make that a stealth expert with silenced weapon
AA: unscoped rifle/carbine/smg
Officer: scoped rifle/carbine
etc
(just quick thoughts.)
And maybe get rid of the special forces in regular maps then.
Perhaps remove the ability to build bunkers and firebases etc from the team with special forces, so the others can build better defences (if SF vs regular army)
Though i wouldnt put too much hope in this project, special forces are difficult to portrait and balance realistic in a game like this and with players that tend to get the most leet gun. Good luck anyway.

Well, for assest, only Firebases would be allowed...
possible SF Unit Assests list :
Razorwire
Firebase
Sandbags
And since they're SF they would have Heavy AT available, jus LAT.
Oh,and if you've ever played PoE2,they're USMC Spec Ops. M4 with the silencer and red dot,I'm just in love with, lol.

Thanks, lol,I wanted to discuss about it,but it kinda turned into a big suggestion, lol.
But anways,if this minimod was to become true,we wouldn't really have to do much for it...Just map,and maybe re-skin certain troops, and that's about it...Vehicles,and weapons are mainly already there...And edit kits, and etc. of course.
I can't really think of something that hasn't already been made here...

I'd like to see the Royal Marines as their own faction
But, your ideas are cool too
The only real danger is falling in to hollywood, 'SPEC OPS WIN AGAINST ALL' ideas.
I agree with Bosco's suggestion, surely autobalance could be modified for a similar ratio? Then all you have to do is give the SF team lots of toys, but give the enemy more of stuff.

Yea,of course.
But Royal Marines aren't really...SF...the PR Devs. can make them, lol.

The Marines aren't a SF force, however are trained just as well. they are possibly just worse trained than the american Delta Force(if that makes sense). The SAS are the shizzle, but the problem with SAS, is for their kits, they can use what the hell they want!! Anything that the CO wants, generally the SAS get...

But would this idea really so good? i would like to see the special ops when they really get mission like destroying assets or gathring information blabla
Maybe it could work with the upcoming Scenario game mode?

Actually I was thinking, and for the Spec Ops to win against Insurgents when they are outnumbered 3:1, only works with teamwork. All it takes is for like 3 noobs to come in and ruin the whole day for the spec ops...

Nice idea saint, I kind of like scenario were you need to invade a hostile
base and blow up all armor inside or a radar ect. Or a more close combat
mission with a hostage/vip kept hostage by insurgents inside a large
building..
This will get new tactics in to the game, like clearing out the rooms inside
buildings. I do think that we need to do it more like css. So when you die,
you dont span anymore, simply because this will make it to crouded..
We could do that with wins, so to win a round it takes 5/10 wins, so
when 1 of the teams has 10 wins, (win= save the vip/hostage or kill the all
the players of the other team) the round ends and the next map is on.
The maps need to be small so making them would take less time, this way we can make
more small SF maps. But we do need new models, for the buildings ect. I
think that new building is a must now in pr, because all maps currently in 0.75 are
kind of using the standard houses, with are most of the time closed.
And for the SF type of style you need al lot more open houses so you can go inside..
That would be nice I think

Special operations units as their own factions has been suggested before.
