Selective kit swapping?

I was just thinking...maybe... possibly that you could make it so when you swap kit , you dont have to take everything, you could select only the weapons and items you felt you needed.
Maybe not letting people take medical kits and defribulators would be ok (as that would result in all kinds of stupendous super soldier/ never dying shit) , but i think it would be cool...and...realistic!
So you could get the stuff you need for a certain attack or defence from the bodys around you using your ingenuety and skill to even out an uneven situation. Obviously put a limit on the amount you can carry, and what you carry slowing you down.
Just a thought from a thoughtful mind.
Thanks

It is a great Idea and been brought up before. I mean in real life you wouldnt necessarilly just pick up a pack from a body and put on the enemy helmet which magically changes to match your uniform and all the gear. I would just grab the gun, frags, and ammo.
However who would have time to shop???

I think alot of people would, i mean have you ever had the type of situation where you've just fought off 3 squads and a tank (maybe more!

) and your the last guy left preparing for a second wave, you need all you can get.
Thats the kind of time you could stop and shop, and i always find i run outta grenades fairly fast, so getting more would be good if theres not a support guy near.
I'm sure many people will think this will demote the re-supply element of the game but to be honest it wouldn't and if ya want realism, this should be incorperated.

P.S. sorry if this is an old subject, i'm just enthusiastic.

have it so that when you press "G" you pick up one thing at a time I.E ammo then grenades than gun.

Hmmm, i was thinking more along the lines of a menu that comes up like with your kit on the left side and the other guys stuff on the right side (Vise versa)
Abit like games such as Morrowind.
If you got the weapons like you said you would be picking up things you didn't want, or wanted less over the ones you did, giving you un-wanted weight.

Well sincerly I don't think this is going to happen.
First of all, you can't really exchange the ammo because so many type of weapons are out there, and I dont think they have a world standard yet
It would be possible for the grenades as ingame I think they all behave the same way.
But that probably mean a bit of coding just for ... 2 grenades ? (as you can't carry more)
It would be simpler to just increase the number of grenades you start with.
But on a side note, the change from one kit to an other is really too fast, you can practicly change kit , shot your rpg, then take back your old kit and snipe the guy running from the tank, damn thats quicker then Lucky Luke !

If you have every played Joint Ops they have a cool system of doing what you are talking about. At the main base there is a crate that you can click on or select and it brings up a screen with your load out. So if you are a sniper and want to move fast you can just take the rifle and ammo, no pistol, nades or clays.

I remember hearing that BF games work as a whole kit, so really you can't pick and choose. Although the changing your hat thing is a little weird, fixable maybe?

Soabh to be honest i'm not that stupid, and i wasn't thinking about swapping individual bullets, shells, magazines etc, more along the lines of rifles, pistols, mines, c4, grenades.
Say if you had full ammunition for a pistol, but no ammo for your sniper lets say, no supply near, you could just pick up your friends rifle and his ammuniton, so you dont have to pick up everything and encumbre your self anymore.

Ahh yes thats a problem...Oh! thought! maybe ...just maybe you could nick a dead mates guilyflauge , oh that would be fun
Seriously though, if it's not possible what so ever, thats a shame, but thanks for looking at the thread.
If you could switch the fact that you dont change completely when you pick up a kit, that would be great.

Yeah thats exactly what i mean, it's all to do with speed and tactics. Kitting yourself out accordingly to what you wish to do.

It would be nice to have a GUI menu come up to switch weapons if you pressed, say "Shift+G" but 1) I'm not too sure the menu would be doable since it would mean a MAJOR change in the code, and second, it would be another major code change to have each weapon (nades, rifle, pistol, ect) seperate - sorry to say, I'm not doubting the mod team's abilities here, but I think something like this would be beyond the scope of what they can do...

The only easy way I can think of making this somewhat work, would be that when someone dies along with thier kit, a bag (just like from the support kit) drops with it and when you run over it, it refills ur current kit.

yes, that would be easy (I imagine) to implement, but people would abuse the hell out of it... somebody else mentioned that presently you can have your dead buddy's RPG lyin next to you up on a roof, take it and shoot a vehicle, then grab your sniper kit back and pop the guy running from the vehicle in the head... dropping ammo with a kit from a guy that just died would make this even worse...
