Score while in tank .50 cal

Since the driver and gunner share points in tanks, why doesnt the .50 cal gunner gets his share? It truly makes me sad to see a guy finish with 500ish points while me and my gunner have over 2000. IMO, the .50 cal gunner (engineer) is just as important as the gunner or driver, so he should get the same amount of points as the gunner and driver.

Yadda yadda, points dont really matter, but at times i feel sorry for the poor guy who sat a whole round in the .50 cal seat of my tank (wich is boring as f*ck at times) keeping me and my gunner alive and only got 1/5th of my points.

Yay or Nay?

True, he should get some more points. I mean teamwork points. He does after all protect the tanks rear and keeps it alive. ;)

Lock the seat then so only engineers or officers can sit in it. And honestly, how many people would do that in a game where stats dont record?

Hahem, points don't matter, PR is not about points!

Most people are still highly encouraged by points. If they see they have a low amount of points they are going to try to raise them. If you make it that engineers (officers and crewman) get "free" points in the .50cal, you are going to see people sit in it and protect the tank. Repairing it would be in their best interest as if the tank get destroyed they will lose their "free points".

Points are a useless distraction. If anything, only give points to those who stay near their squad members but that might be asking too much.

Points are useless, They don't affect the team in anyway.

the 50 cal gunner, especially on basrah is a lookout, a repair man and extra gun. But his job can be pretty boring and he has the far higher mortality rate of any of the tank crew.

Least any1 can do is give the poor sod some points.

yes yes, points don't matter, but it isn't like the PR universe will implode if he gets some.

but tanks can get by without a .50 cal. tanks CANT get by without a gunner+driver.

but yeah they should get same amount of points. i kindof think they still do rack up a ton of points even without doing anything. i reember sitting in the .50 of my tank squad and it was qinling so i didnt really have much to do and i was still racking up a ton of points.

Points are a way to gauge players 'do goodery' and more importantly people want rewards for their efforts or else you can expect many players will not be motivated or care to play much. PR is still a game in which there is competition involved and people want to prove their skills and get gratification when they see their score which represents their accomplishments. I understand the players who don't care about points but simply for their team to win and could do without points and just have the end round verdict of who won but not all players are that selfless. Incentive is needed.

Pointss are a placebo effect. More points, the better you feel and the moar you put into it.

Fairly simply in this regard, really.

I was going to say the same thing about how points don't even count. It's all about having a good time.

Isn't that a little unfair for the people in tank crews that are fortunate enough to not get shot much? Plus on large scale maps the 50cal is less likely to get used to any great effect. So this punishes otherwise dedicated 50cal engineers.

I think some system along the lines of how the commander gets scored, but only having a certain percent, would be fair. So the 50caler would get a certain commission of the points the gunner and driver/commander get whole he's part of the crew.

Its hard to solo tanks, but its still doable. Its also a lot harder to drive a tank without having an engineer ;)

I think points sometimes do matter. A player likes to be rewarded in some way, and if he is rewarded then the actual task would be more appealing to him.

Like one time I was a squad leader of a 3man squad and all I did was pointing out targets for a sniper with attack markers and lase targets for the frogfoot at the same time, they both got a huge number of kills and points, and I ended up with zero score (unfortunately ive been killed 2 times and losing the spec-op kit resulted in negative team points).

Though it was cool that my 2 squad members got many kills with my coordination, i was sad beacuse my name didnt even come up at the leaderboards...

The engineers job in the .50cal is one of the most annoying and boring one, because if you are engaged in a tank fight, it doesent matter if he ducks behind cover in the 50.cal, he will be killed, then the tank would have to get back to the nearest spawn point to pick him up, making the tank less efective because it is always running to get it's engineer back.

I say that first of all, if it is codeable, make it that if the guy in the .50cal ducks behind cover he will not die from a shell unless its a heat round.

If this is sorted out, then we can move on to the point issue.

Idea: when the engineer ducks in the cupola, the view switches to an overlay similar to the BF1942 submarine screen; instead of a depth gauge, it would show a full satellite map, along with the last enemies spotted on the map.
