Ways to make Mosque on Al Basrah look better

I know many will think this point is moot right now but IMHO there is some major lack of statics, and cover around the mousqe in Al Baserah. In particular the market where the weapons are looks so plain it's not even funny. There should be some extra statics of ammo boxes, and even some unmarked boxes around the market part of the Mausqe so it looks more real. IE I know we can't increase the ammount of weapons, but some ammo belts, and boxes, with maybe a nice pice of batting over the top for some cover from choppers: IE make it so you can shoot through it but not see where your bullets land ala the BF2 fence.

Also to make that whole part of the cort yard around the mousqe look great would be to add some plants, and stuff.

I know this may be pushing the limit of the BF2 engine but that part of the map is too open, and has so little cover for spawning infantry that more often then not good APCs, and tankers, as well as snipers/marksmen can realy spawn camp that flag like no tomarrow.

IMHO it's part of the reason nobody spawns there is the lack of cover, and the fact that all the roof tops have a major advantage point on you. So too add some bushes in planting pots, or like those in BF2SF the bushes in rows of hallowed out bricks would help alot for defenders, and mean the mappers could have a cool place to plant the last weapons cache.

Please comment on my idea.

Spawn camping on mosque is known issue but it's not such a problem (at least for me), just spawn somewhere else and take out those campers. Even if you add some statics to provide more cover there still will be spawn camping but from other directons (IMO).

True but thats the major reason that even if the mosque is not the main objective they still do it for the extra scores. IMHO extra cover, and maybe a better cortyard latout for that part of the map might help a bit. IE it's a holy sight, anybody who shoots it should get some type of penalty.

FYI the way it works in real life is that your not allowed to harm holly sights even mide battle. The only wars that did not take this into account was WW2/WW1 but after WW2/WW1 most armies run under the idea to at least try and stop colatteral damage to churches, farm land, and major facilities. IE oil reserves and places that help the local econimy.

This is in a major effort not only to save lives, but also to make sure that after the fighting is over that the population that lives there can get on with their lives faster then if the whole place was bombed to the stone age.

Good post! Thats a cool idea, a canopy around the edges of the mosque wall. i wonder if it could flap like in the wind. a kind of greyish blue ragged thing weather worn from years of sandstorms. that would defenitly bring the landscape to life.

I dont think it would push the engine to have a few statics lying around the market place, i think it was colour continuity though, because all of the market stalls are kind of the same colour, and would have to be reskinned to create divercity...then again i could be wrong. cool idea. and having an ammo crate beside the ammo stalls is a good idea too.

I could go to liveleak and dig up at least half a dozen videos of Minarets getting blown to smithereens.

I thought you'd just have to warn the civilians thinking they were safe in there so they can escape from the building before you blow it. Not sure where i got that from though.
