Gun Trucks

I was watching the tube one day when an awesome idea for Project Reality hit me: Combat Trucks. In essence, transport trucks armed to the teeth with machine guns and other sorts of armament. Besides looking cool, they could ACTUALLY serve a purpose such as:
-Protecting Convoys
-REALLY Providing Suppressive Fire
-Insertion and Extraction
-"Gunship of the Land"
-Supplies at Inconvenient Locations
-And so much more
What is even more astounding it that these "gun trucks" were actually used in Vietnam and Iraq as convoy protection(see
Army Logistician (Gun Trucks: A Vietnam Innovation Returns)). I believe they would be a valuable asset to PR, especially on Insurgent maps like Operation Archer and Al Basrah.
In addition they shouldn't require that much more modification from regular trucks! Just take the 2.5 ton truck, somehow add approx. 2 heavy machine guns, some LMG's, have the soldiers in it face outwards (with the ability to duck, if possible), add some Armour to the sides, change some stats, and so forth.
So... what do you think? A STAND ALONE GUN TRUCK (not a replacement for the supply truck), with the ability to turn any normal track of land into a kill zone. Your thoughts?

1/2 of the supply vehicles they use now should be converted into these. It's kind of annoying right now with the lack of armament on some of the transports. Great idea. I've seen these on TV several times and I always thought that the Devs would add them to PR eventually.

Ah, interesting idea. I like.
Also, the Support Trucks (M-35) were the ones from the USI Mod Team.

Blasphemy!
If it's not armed, then it's not worth life!
Just kidding?

if there was only one spawning at a time i think this would be good, to many and the normal trucks would become forgotten lol.

not sure what these gun trucks would bring to the battlefield that current armed troop transports cant.
I wouldn't scream with ecstasy or misery if a 50cal or something was put on top of the truck, but since it isn't a combat platform anyway I won't treat it like one.

would be nice, especially if we would have again some kind of extraction gamemode, where they could be really awsome
edit, some more examples:

Great Idea, it really helps defend it and give it a higher chance of living in the battle field.

* Vehicle Role: Vehicle Support
* Producer: US Intervention Mod Team
* Armament: None
* Crew Requirement:' YES - Officer or Combat Engineer
* Crew Capacity: 1 Driver
* Passenger Capacity: 7 Passengers
* Special Features: Supply Trucks can drop a supply crate by pressing the RMB. You can rearm the supply crate at a friendly Bunker/Firebase/Command Post.

Mad Max armed trucks FTW!!!
(j/k)
If you want transport and .50 cal than maybe take one of those shiny jeeps

I think it'd need more then 1 50 to be worthwhile. But if these were in game they wouldn't make old trucks redundant, cos presumably there wouldn't b many AND they wouldn't be able to fit a whole squad in.

Hmmm..Your stupidly defenseless when in the back of a truck.
Since you cant aim for shizzle, because of the seating positions in the back (so not to make it look stupid when your legs stick out the side of the vehicle).
Perhaps the 2 most rear sets would allow the passengers to neal on the deck/seat with a 180FoV, allowing them to use their rifles to defend/supress hostiles.
I think an M249/M240 (and their equivilants for other factions) should be placed behind the drivers cabin, with a 360 Field of view.
Not all of them, but a minority.
Good suggestion imo.

I would envision the gun truck as a heavy support vehicle rather than an armored transport, although it could be both. Either way it would have at LEAST 2 HMG's, being in essence a "Gunship of the Land".
Why would it be useful with the presence of APC's? Well, for one it would be more versatile, having the ability to drop Ammo Crates, support infantry. In addition, the armament, though not as powerful, would be in more abundance, leading to some intense (and Fun) teamwork as to where the lead should go. Finally, it would add just one more element to PR. A vehicle not to heavily armored, but still able to inflict damage.
It would also look
almost as cool as Chuck Norris himself!

It would be pretty sweet to see some of these trolling around Basarah. But I don't see the reason for one on a map like Kashan. Cool suggestion.

Hmm, the limited angle of fire would make those buildings on basrah even more advantageous for ins. to hold; one of these trundles along, you drop a grenade into the back and boom, a full vehicle's worth of British dead.
If you're on the ground though, you're fucked if one of these trundles around.
