Fuchs Reconnaissance Vehicle

Okay
As the Brits do not have any amphibious vehicles and therefore cannot do amphibious attack maps like Oman and Zatar without Helicopters, i would like to put forward this vehicle.

Fuchs Reconnaissance Vehicle - British Army Website

I know it says it is used for biological and chemical warfare, but as seen in the picture it is mounted with a GPMG and is amphibious. It could be used to land troops ashore and maybe a map with a beach control point that when is captured spawns warriors, scimitars and Land Rovers to give the impression that they have been brought ashore. This would fill the Brits amphibious gap and would give a nice twist rather than having USMC doing all the amphibious assault maps.

Well i dont think that it is used only as biological warfare, but i like the idea ! ;)

any reason we couldn't use biological warfare???

could have a system of firing a gas round from a launcher of some kind (not quite shore what, possibly a MEC weapon) which then resulted in any infantry having a suppressed effect for a period of time.

Then infantry inside warriors, Fuchs and any other armored vehicles would be fine if biological defenses are built in to modern armored vehicles.

Wait, then we could have gas masks. e.g the commander gets report of an incoming biological weapon e.g. gas, he tells squad leader then all infantry have 30 secs or a minute to put gas mask on or be affected, sort of like the effect when you a critically wounded! Then environments gets foggy, imitating gas in the area were the gas lands. But the enemy in that area too would have to put on gas masks to make it more realistic. But gas dosent cover whole map, maybe 2 or 3 grids e.g. c3-c5

For Fuchs sake...

The bottom line in the argument is realism. If this war between NATO and CATA did break out, would Britain abandon all those biological weapon ethics treaties by placing NBC (Nuclear, Biological, or Chemical) weapons on their vehicles?

The fact that it's the British faction's first amphibious, armed troop transport is not under dispute - to be honest, they need something like the Fuchs to balance the CATA amphibious APCs.

(EDIT: I misunderstood the earlier posts - I thought you were proposing arming the Fuchs with NBC weapons, for some strange reason.)

Exactly, the Brits are the only faction excluding insurgents that don't have an amphibious vehicle, IRL the Brits do have an amphibious vehicle,Fuchs ,so why not put it in PR. After all the main purpose of the mod is reality.

The British FUCHS is a Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear detection vehicle.

Roughly 8 were bought for the first Gulf war back in the early nineties and are solely used by the JNBC Regiment. They are used to check for chemical agents etc without the need for sending some one onto the ground in just a suit and respirator.

The British FV430 and CVR(T) did have a swim capability but this was removed many years ago as it was decided there was no need. the Army was issued with several of the German M3 rigs for crossing rivers. If not we have good bridge laying equipment in the form of TITAN.

Image

The Combat Engineer Tractor can and still does swim but this is due for replacement by the Terrier in a few years.

Image

The only true amphibious vehicle used by the British is the BV206 which is mainly used by the RM and some units of the Army and RAF in certain areas such as the Falklands.

Image

All beach assaults are carried out by the Royal Marines, the beach head is then taken over by the Army.

I am aware that Fuchs is designed for NBC detection, but just to balance out the factions,it would be really useful, and since it is the only up to date amphibious vehicle then i think the Brits should be able to use it, chemical warfare or not.

or if not an amphibious vech, y not have somthing like this

Image

which can be used for making bridges i know the bf2 engine cant cope with the two vechs coming in contact but maybe it could be used like the supply trucks, where a squad leader can place a bridge and build one

if that make any sense

There is a viable option of using the RM hovercraft. Armed with a GPMG. Pictured below dropping off some US Marines.

well, perhaps someone moddels one for the german forces, they use it more widespread (also as apc - but it gets replaced by the ugly Boxer GTK :-( the fuchs is a really nice looking vehicle) and if it is there, it could be also used for the UK

Good idea, so if a squad leader wanted to place a bridge, a TITAN would have to be present, just like a supply truck when building a fire base, Only engineers would need to build it instead of guys with shovels, Just a short build time as TITAN doesn't take long to lay down a bridge.
