Teamwork seems to be fading from servers lately...

I started playing around febuary, and I have had alot for great moments in PR. But as of late It seems that vinilla noobs are invading the servers. I played a game tonight where we made a littlebird squad on Qwai and they a bit later someone else made a squad called "REAL PILOTZ" and the whole time he talked about he was a better pilot then me and told everyone to get in his chopper. Its just not that I mean seems that alot of people get in the huey mainly, cry for an hour because you got in the helicopter and when you decide to get out or the chopper spawns they take it and crash within 5 seconds. Tking is crazy people seem like on Kashan (wich seems to be runned daily) I have seen the commander's not doing there job or squads trying to cap area's that you cant even take. Admins seem to abuse there powers and kick people who tk'ed them on accident. Alot of squads latley just sit around dont talk and just go seperate ways.

noobies still dont understand that the warm up sound on the Hue is actually screwed up, so although it sounds like its warmed up its still warming up, and they try taking off.... causing instant coffins. But there is still team play, u just mean that there are alot of new ******** playing and they dont understand the kind of connection we players have developed for the game and how it should be played. It kinda sounds gay, but its deep man... really deep.

We're getting back into summer, from what I've read from other members, there's generally a spike of idiots playing because they have free time on their hands.

i was thinking the same thing... until i joined the texas teamplayers server about an hour ago. played a great game, lots of teamwork, and lots of laser guided death from jets/choppers. so its really hit or miss i agree, but its always been that way, i mean we dealing with the general bf2 playing public here.

Looks like you had a bad day, it happens. I, on the other hand, had a brilliant Merlin pilot with Merlin lag on Basrah. I was lucky enough to co-pilot for him as SL, dropping markers on objectives/air transport points, asking the team where they were heading, being the middle man. Holo-sync77, one of the better pilots I've seen on thebattlearena. I suppose he returned to PR recently, as he did mention playing .5 before.

Our piloting streak was stopped by an RPGer at Industry who made quick work of everyone in the front, leaving our poor passengers to die with the wreckage. Still, a good run, brilliant pilot, good communication between heli and team, a classic PR moment. And I believe we won that round, a team effort, of course.
No one person can make or break the game in PR. This isn't vanilla, and people either learn this, lose round after round or leave the game. Stick around, don't let team mates ruin your time. Besides, the team usually decides themselves who's the better pilot. This choice usually comes after they see themselves plummeting hopelessly to their demise.
Also, of course, vanilla noobs are entering the irresistibleness of this mod. I was once a vanilla player, and I wanted to play PR. Give us newbies a chance, we can change!

The manual is one step in the right direction, observing others is another.

Lets face it. Finding teamwork online is an exercise in patience and gambling.
Its like chasing a jackpot.

lol
The thing I hate the most are Armor Soloer wasting vehicles and peoples playing PR without VOIP or teamSpeak.
Maybe the key for finding Teamwork is joining a PR dedicated team/clan ?

One of the reasons I stopped playing several months ago (maybe a year, don't remember) was for this same reason. I had only been playing for a few months at that time and I was having one hell of a great time. At first it seemed like the vanilla gimps were too afraid to try PR, no complaints from me. But after those first few months I started seeing more and more ******** from vanilla hopping into my game sessions. Usually it was late at night when the admins went to sleep that the worst cases would happen, but daytime dumbasses were around too.
It was the total lack of maturity and professionalism that made me quit the game at that time. I enjoyed the mod, I had much respect for many of the players, and was active on the forums. But even if only a small number of numbnuts get on a server, it ruined the game for me. I couldn't stand the vanilla feeling all over again, so I left and planned to return when things got better. Over time they did and so I came back, but it looks like it's catching up again.
I think that the vanilla noobs tend to learn the tricks to playing PR and stick around for a while, and when a new update is released those noobs can't handle it and they dwindle a little. But after a while they seem to overcome it and adapt, like a damn virus. It will happen no matter what anyone does, unless the server admins start locking servers and require in-game testing in order to grant access to their servers. I'm sure when 0.8 is released we might see another temporary drop in idiots, but they'll be back eventually.
Suck it up and drive on, and don't forget to teabag the little ******** when you catch up to 'em.

I suggest you to play primetime local 19-23 and on a server with admins present. Tried Tactical Gamer? It´s located in the U.S, a good server.

Meh it's always been like that, remember the old days of 0.5 just before 0.6 came out, when the only thing people did was M203 spamming and shooting ATs at each other and on Basrah there was always someone teamkilling for the air assets or wasting spawn cars.
And on 0.6, eventually you'd had people spawning in Spec Ops all the time, even on PLA/MEC teams where rifleman used to be the #1 kit at start and the overpowered jets on Kashan, where you could do whatever you wanted if you had a good pilot squad, since they basically killed anything larger than a jeep on the other team.
And now people whore marksman and sniper kits, bunny hop to evade bullets and prone dive with SAWs + the classic smacktardery

...which have no correlation with the topic, i.e teamwork.

Can you have teamwork with CO and squads in PR? Sometimes you can I would say. In PR. Generally speaking that is. Sometimes you don´t.

Someone said it above - Texasteamplayers servers subscribe and enforce teamplay heavily. You still get the odd idiot, but they don't last long on the server.

As an official noob, with no clans or teams, I have to say that I feel you have your judgements wrong. I haven't been in a squad where a good veteran leader actually explained what the other, newer players had to do since I started playing again back in Febuary. Now, all the supposedlly veteran players I meet either decide to do something weird like take a pilot kit and stand by the airfield for the whole game, or just lock themselves in a squad with the rest of their clanmates.
If you want to educate "N00bs" on how to play properly, you have to teach them, especially on Kashan Desert, that map is an absolute pain when nobody has an idea what to do...

The main problem is that the ratio of veteran/dedicated players who play PR in the spirit is rather low right now.
People usually mimic the playing style around them as in what works and what doesn't. The ratio of good examples makes crossing them rare, and even if you end up in a good squad the chances are the rest of the team is playing headlessly so the end result is still usually not experiencing some real teamwork.
So as time goes, and experienced players leave (for whatever reason) and are not replaced, the ratio gets only worse.
Other things that contribute to this:
- The community has grown to a size where you often don't know the people whom you're playing with, even just by name. When you know you won't cross path with the people around you, putting an effort to play well falls well behind peoples mind and behaving like and arse baring not much risks.
- VOIP: new people usually don't know how to use it effectively and rarely get to hear a squad work with it. This goes back to the low ratio problem.
- Lack of good COs: For some reason they have disappeared, half of the time nobody is at the helm, a quarter you have someone but who doesn't know how to do it well and the last quarter are doing a good job... but then you have the lack of good and listening SLs effect which kicks in
This Mod is becoming popular, and thats great but at the same time its suffering from its popularity. It has come from a very dedicated and passionate realism base which is now getting diluted by people who lack that same mindset. Those people can learn to love this new "language", but they need to first understand that it exists and then see all it can offer more.
But right now they are seeing/hearing neither because its gotten to faint.
The Devs can only do so much, programming has its limits.
The community needs to organize itself a bit more to take those "newbies" by the hand and show them they can have a better time by working as a team rather then a bunch of individuals.
I haven't got any solutions for this, but it could take the form of having a tourney team spread between the 2 sides, with every squad composed of half tourney/half non-tourney members.
The end result being some good and organized fights, open to the public, which sends back some experience into the general public base.
Brainstorm away people !
