Hello and advice please!

Hi all,
I have just come across this mod (recommended in some posts over at POE).
My clan has been a long term OFP/Arma clan since year dot. I joined 2 years ago after a long time in Battlefield from 1942 to 2142 (BF2 being great as was the POE mod). We've been looking to move on and have tried a few things - RB6 V2 with most success but its gets too samey and we want something a bit more open. Some are still playing Arma but the UI is awful. Our priorities are below and I was wondering if you guys could comment on PR's suitability for this.
- Must be as realistic as possible. Arma is pretty good for that, RB6 not bad, COD4 not!
- Must require team skill, promote patient play and respect for ones own life - not your COD4 headless chicken runabout (or original BF2 bunnyhopping frenzy!)
- Active clan community - other people to play. Doesn't have to be leagues
- Good maps (faves were Karkland, Mastuur, Sharqi plus loved POE Fallen).
- Good for single players to come in and join other squads in game when clan isn't on (or the clan doesn't adopt it as a whole)
- Most importantly, must be well populated (we are a UK clan)
- Reasonable learning curve - are we too far back to be competitive now its been out a while?
Sorry to bombard with questions in first post its just that most of us have to buy BF again to try it hence the questions.
Kind regards
David

1-6 are all very much YES with regard to PR.
7, as long as you read the manual (PDF placed on desktop at install) it's fine. You soon get used to how it works.
I'll be going on either Thors Brigade or LT Reality in a few mins if you wanna join me. Gimme a shout ingame and I'll squad up with you and show you the basics (do read the manual tho).

BF2. Moved house and chucked any games I didn't think I'd play again. BF2 is the second game in two weeks I've had to rebuy! (other being the old Thief 2 game to play some fan made missions)

This is so far from vbf2 that you won't believe it.
Pr basicly have everything.. Teamwork is the greatest, and I don't even have a clan! Never been in one or password nights so I am talking about public servers..
Got 1 tip for public server though.
-Join a Eng VOIP / ENG mic / Teamwork. Or whatever cool name your heart desire.
^That is pretty much the best teamwork squads around.
Pr pretty much have everything.
Great in game teamwork-
Community-
Keeps getting updated-
Friendly people-
Removed classic vBF2 child play, like bunny jumping.
Only thing PR need, is nudity and chicks for the winning team.. Which would be awesome!

Let me be the first to warn you about the steeper system requirements for this game(PR) over vBF2. PR has bigger maps, better textures/skins and bigger maps(yes i said it twice) so it will take at least 2 gigs of RAM and a decent graphics card to fully enjoy this game.

Again; PR should fufill all of your requirements just fine. Welcome to the community, and on behalf of Tactics & Teamwork, you and your guys are welcome to head over to our server anytime you fancy for PR the way it's meant to be played

We're a UK community (not a clan) but we play well together and are usually considered one of the best EU servers

Actually these are the exact definition for PR
For the 7th: first give a read to the manuals/online guide, just to be a bit prepared. Then get ready to play the best game/mod ever. You'll need a lot of patience the first days, there's an abyss from vBF2 to PR gameplay, but once you'll completely understand the seriousness/awesomeness/<adjectives> you'll love it.

Humm this looks like an Adbot ... should I ban it ?
Welcome to the PR community David !
You'll come for PR, but you'll stay for the community

Try out the RGG squad guys (you'll find them lurking around here

) They've got a great spirit to go with some solid teamwork.

Make sure you get both the core and levels files
I'll probably be buzzing around servers from 11ish.

W00t, Thief is great, I see why you chose to rebuy both of those, I would have made the exact same decision, but I've never been able to get fan-missions working without messing up with CTDs and stuff.
Welcome to Project Reality David!
Also, check out the 'Guide' tab at the top of the page... (^^

^^) It has loads of stuff about classes and vehicles, knowing how much ammo a weapon has per mag is important when you've just found cover in a firefight...
