I never really understood the removal of this, and only letting the SL spot targets. This makes the rest of a squad /general grunt useless. I love using the binoculars either as a sniper spotter, or just general looking, and keeping people informed of general locations.

But now I just say 'enemy blabla on the move', that doesn't help anyone really. I DO type it manually and include degrees bearings but most of the time people just ignore that. Surely letting everyone know where things are, is much more efficient.

I know it doesn't happen in real life but I bet a real brigade of soldiers would all be informed of locations, if private plumstead spots a tank on his 6 o clock and spots it for everyone else in his team so they can see it, that'd save alot of deaths.I bet if a tank was spotted in a real battlefield, everyone would know about it. I think if someone can spot an enemy position / unit, the spotter should be rewarded with an enemy location blip on the map.

Spotting on the non-english speaking teams is even more useless, I just dont bother because even I don't know what 'kkkoweeie eeeeebuhrah' means; although the rest of the squad know in a few seconds time because an apc has come and blew us all up because my blip didn't show up.


Letting everybody spot in 0.8 = much win

disagree completly, i'm not being harsh here, but it is up to you to inform your squad quickly when you see a tank so you can either let it pass or blow it up. The whole point of Voip and the combination of the compass at the bottom is so you can give a precise location of where something is. You can also use the Numpad system for telling others where something, just split every grid square into a number on your numpad. For example G3-7 is the top most left corner of the grid square G3. Just my two sence

I do agree that it is frustrating sometime when you want to warn an upcoming friendly on the exact whereabouts of a tank or apc, but it would dumb down on the realism a little bit and plus its not very responsible to throw up the marker and assume everyone saw. When you say "Hey SOandSo there is a tank over there", he will know and acknowledge the threat, but if you just spot it and move on you may lead the entire squad to peril. If it is a grave situation and a threat to the whole team relay the message to the commander so he can let everyone know. i.e. Tank outside of Main.

That's your problem right there. Get a mic ($3-$5), and just call out what direction or what bearing its at. Your squad should be together, so they can find targets pretty easily if you give them the direction.

Also, the current system illustrates a chain of command. The grunts inform the rest of the squad of a threat. If the squad is unable to deal with it or needs to inform another squad, he can spot it on the map and/or radio the commander. The commander can then find someone who can take out the target.

This is used to enforce teamwork. Learn to stay with your teammates and call out locations (VOIP is required).

"Contact front, left, right"
"Get on line" - Use to gather your troops and attack a point
"Rally up"
"large/small contact area"

Yes its hard to spot something out, but learn to use the system and talk to your teammates. This is much more realistic than a magic icon showing up on your GPS unit.
"Dave, you have a contact to your left 30 yards out walking along the tree line"
