deployable watchtower

I'm surprised nobody already suggested this
I think watchtowers would be a great deployable
they can be used for spotting mortars or as sniper nests, or for whatever purpose you can come up with
Generally I'd like to see more types of deployables like like trenches and tank fortifications like on ejod
I remembered someone suggested a deployable helipad+chopper I'm looking forward to seeing that too

a watchtower would allow everyone to see where your bunker is and then go blow it up. Not a good idea.

Yeah. As for the trench hardcoded and:
Im afraid these have already been suggested before.
To make it more convenient for Forum Moderators([R-MODs]and[R-DEVs]), the community and yourself, please use one of the following resources below to help avoid further re-suggestions in future:
OPTION-A:
USE THE SEARCH BUTTON
Punch in the key words of your thread title/subject and search in the PR Suggestions and Feedback section.
Check the results of the search to see if its deja vu again!
OPTION-B
Already Suggested Suggestions Thread
To check if you are repeating a previous suggesting and rupturing the space-time continuum as we know it, scroll through the thread to see if your idea has already been suggested by someone else.
(And no, this doesnt mean someone has stolen your idea!, it means your just a little bit 'slower than the rest of us)

Feuerwaffen I'm just talking about a watchtower here not trenches maybe you should have actually read
a watchtower wouldn't give away your firebase position because the devs plan on putting a wider radius around a firebase for deployables in .8 this would prevent the enemy from knowing exactly where your firebase is when they see your watchtower
main reason why a watchtower would be a good option to add, isthat it would be a powerful tool for defending an area because the enemy wouldn't be able to use the landscape as cover so easily when they try to advance to destroy your firebase

You didn't say that. The watch towers would be taken out be tanks in seconds after being built.

Yeah, people get used to maps and know when something new has appeared. Really, all you'd be building is a flashing neon sign saying "SNIPER IN HERE".
Trenches etc are AFAIK impossible since the terrain level is solid and you can't go under it; so it'd have to be fully above ground, again basically saying "HELLO ENEMIES, I'M HERE!".

those were Opinions but arguing won't matter
in al-basrah the commander put a a firebase south of the 2 story building on farmland and there was a raised sandbag wall(bug) 2 times as high as my character. I climbed up and was able to provide overwatching fire and my squad was able to advance away from the firebase in safety. It kept the insurgents from running us over. because they were unable to use the irrigation channels or grass as cover.
a little hight made a huge difference there.
I know that towers will work well in PR because theres a bug which creates sandbags which are raised high. when that happens you can climb above to have a raised firing position and then it's easier to hit enemy troops and vehicles.
getting hight on the enemy is a great advantage this is why most forward opperating bases have one whenever there is no high ground available to build on.
towers would add realism too.

Anyone going on a watchtower would be an easy target. Especially for ennemy armor.

only type of tower i want to see is the one that is the tower outside basra airport. It gives you cover and protection. Other wise no.

The NYPD has a watchtower that is pulled by a trailer into position then it will elevate to like 20 feet.
It has cameras and microphones on it but those could be swapped for a 240B and Viola, deployable tower.
If you really wanted to get fancy you could code the tower so it goes from say 6' to the fully extended 20' by operator control.
Then you would have the high overwatch but when not in use it would sit as low as the bunker does now.

not bad, and just have like a camera showing it but have person on ground in a chair or something infront of a black TV screen.

Do they use those in combat the military that is?
still an easy target... if you can see the enemy they can see you. Also considering the tower would be much bigger then a normal soldier. It would also stick out like a sore thumb on ANY map this is not a good idea.

ya but if you can raise or lower it then its harder to see. When not up that is.

I actually think a spawnable watchtower is a good idea. Perhaps it is not always useful, as most people argue, but allowing options is a good thing. Just because YOU think it's a bad idea because you can't use it, doesn't mean it's a bad idea for the gameplay.

i agree it might be usefull, but defnatly not for snipers, they do better to keep away from all infrastructure and go off road

I personally have been in several instances where a watchtower would have been a life-saver. So I support the idea of making a watchtower buildable.

I actually like this idea, while it won't be useful on maps with an armor preasence, more infantry centric maps would find this deployable very useful.

I'm not sure about this, on a technical point.
What happens when something is beneath the bunker or sandbags you are building?
-> It gets on top
-> watchtower on top of stuff might look a little odd.

-Firstly, I would like to say that "they're an easy target" is not an argument, whether or not it/you're an easy target depends on how you use it and has no relevance on the suggestion itself, so stop it. However, I don't feel that there is a pressing need for watchtowers at the moment and it's implementation is of low importance so all I have to say on this is; if the devs want it they can throw it in when they want to.

I think the only thing i will say is, on Bi Ming, anyone in those watchtowers has the slight element of surprise with them as they are always there. However, if they werent and deployable, under the cover of the trees, i would blow the hell out of anything unnatural like a deployable watch tower, cos it is asking for someone to be in there.
