A10 and its minigun

Hi, I love the A10 and it's minigun, but how do i use it properly? I mean, I aim it at a tank and i fire, but i mean, almost no damage is done... then later, when im on the ground, I see an enemy tank, and an A10 pilot swoops downs at destroys it with a burst of the gun... is there a proper way to use this gun so that a tank can be destroyed within 2-3 seconds... This is pretty much all an A10 needs to wreak havoc on enemy armor... its gun, and a few seconds...
On a side note, why doesn't the GAU hold 1350 rounds like it's supposed to? Balancing reasons?

It has some weird deviation things happening in 0.756. It has been corrected.

it does have 1350 rounds in it, there just scaled into batchs, as the rl rate of fire is not possible with the bf2 engine, so the dev's but the bullets into batchs to simulate the high rate of fire, for example you fire of 1 round, the would actually mean that 2 rounds fired, if it had a batch size of 2.

eh really..i didnt even know taht the bf2 engine even had a fire rate limit

But does the GAU-8 completely destroy a MBT anyway?

apparently not - in testing against now ancient t-55s, the A10 gun could not penetrate the front at all, and even against the less protected areas could only achieve mobility or operational kills (tracks, optics, gun maybe). The hype has not quite matched the reality.
Ingame and in real combat, the gun is used for light vehicles, anything heavier requires a maverick missile.

Well, the A10's gun is pretty major, any gun 30 mm. and up are usually used to destroyed armored vehicles...
But otherwise, thanks for your answers

Yeah there seems to be an accuracy problem in .756. I find the best targeting reticule for it is the bomb mode. Rounds will generally land right in the small circle.

Yea,umm,whoever said the A-10's GAU-8 in testing can't penetrate the front of a T-55,you're wrong...The A-10's GAU-8 can pretty much easily penetrate any area of a T series take,up to the T-72.If it's a T-80,or T-90 you're gonna have some trouble getting through it...
But these are good for the A-10's GAU-8 to shoot through...

If that's the case, how come the thing seems to be able to destroy previously undamaged tanks then?

The 30mm will set off the reactive armor and them begin setting off ordinance inside the tank. It isn't the damage any particular one shell does, its that the force of a large number of shells hitting the chassis in a short period of time prevents the reactive armor from functioning as intended. The effects of a GAU-8 are similar to that of a MK-20 Rockeye. The large number of direct hits on the same surfance (often the top armor), will penetrate the fuel and ammo storage compartments, even self sealing ones are of limited use against multiple hits. Even if the crew survived the fragments, the tank would be more or less ineffective. The best way to think of this is the "double-tap" used in close quarters. While one round on a single surface may not be sufficient to penetrate, but two rounds on the same spot will double the effect of the second round. When there are 10 30mm rounds of DU and API hitting the same spot, the effect is essentially many times larger, which is one of the main points of the GAU-8, allows for a larger number of direct hits with more accuracy than a standard tritonol based bomb, and can kill a potentially larger number of targets than a plane equipped with a set of MK-20s. Either way, the gun is more accurate than in previous versions.

Maybe it doesn't penetrate but it can kill by diableing (bad english...) the turret or breaking the tracks/spocket/suspention or destroying the entire sensors or optical gadgets...
