Is there any way to encorporate some things from sf into prmm

Is there any way to put in certain things from sf without making people buy the game itself(and without you guys getting sued)?

The reason I ask is that there is one prevelent problem with realism that bothers me to no end in BF2: it is impossible to climb even mildly steep hills. What I was thinking would be to put in invisible ropes in certain places(many places) to allow players to climb steep hills that would be fairly easy to ascend in real life. This way, the player wouldn't be able to shoot while climbing up a hill because his arms would be busy holding on to the rocks.

Perhaps this could be done with ladders, but I'm guessing they can't be made at angles.

Also, a side suggestion, is there any way you guys could reprogram the knife so that it isn't a instant kill on 1 pixel weapon. It would be much cooler if you could slash and stab so that an area could be affected for less damage.

i dunno, you need a seperate disc to run SF, but you might be able to copy some files over, I couldn't tell you.

One mod (NAW or whatever its called) is using SF weaponry... Lets just say its walking on a VERY thin ledge. I think the only reason EA hasnt shut them down yet, is because they havent noticed.

I dont think its a very good idea. Copy yes, but not use SF stuff. Not to sure that the line and hook can be copied though (SF hardwired?)

It would be relatively easy to see how EA created those assets and reproduce them. There are other cool things to spend time on too tho hehe.

Can't just include them legally tho... not even the flashbangs and stuff that requires you have an xpack, but is available in vanilla.

"to put in invisible ropes in certain places(many places) to allow players to climb steep hills"

or maybe make em be able to either walk or run just a *little* bit faster...

I noticed in Desert Combat playing Omaha you could use jeeps and DRIVE strait up the second cliff (once you're past the first set of bunkers) and go strait up into the rear/main Nazi flag area...

maybe just a little bit of a speed boost would give people enough to get up the hill?

You could, very easily, climb a rocky surface that raises at a sixty degree angle as long as you have footholds and handholds. Pretty much all the rocky areas in BF2, like the area behind the TV station in sharaqi or the cliffs in dragon valey would be climbable in real life. I would prefer though, that the player not be allowed to shoot while climbing as your hands would be occupied. That's why I thought of the rope.

i just get sick of hills that are easy to climb in the game but i gotta hit sprint and hop 4 or 5 times to get up them!

You can even include flash bangs? I can play around with them in BF2 right now, no mods nothing! It's part of BF2.

I would include some SF weapons/skins/vehicles if I were you guys... and just make it useless to get the Special Forces expansion. I think it's lame that I have to pay $30.00 for an expansion that really isn't worth the cost. Instead, make a similar portion in your mod, and then we wont NEED it.

Dawdler's post "Lets just say its walking on a VERY thin ledge. I think the only reason EA hasnt shut them down yet, is because they havent noticed."

I think that says enough - go right ahead if you want an EA/DICE lawsuit on your hands though. They would try to say its illegal to steal their content - which is exactly what you said you wanted to do - and provide it for free under a different name, so thats gotta be at least 2 laws broken - copyright enfringment and then interferring with their sales

Besides the point of a mod is to add maps, weapons, and other content that EA/DICE would have been too stupid to even Google or check Wikipedia a few times...

We can't even use the unlockable weapons which came with vanilla BF2 unless they are only available to players who have earned them through the official EA global unlock system.

SF things are a definite no-no unless we make a mod which requires players to own SF.

that's pretty lame IMHO. if you physically own a CD + patches that you paid for that include code/skins that are unlockable ingame, you should be able to use it no matter what.

because it would leave the game full of people that just bought it, have no experience, and have access to noob cannons

What about remade versions of the guns? I meen, are we to not give the brits the l96a1, or not give the g36, or fn p90 just because the model is used as an unlockable weapon in vanilla? If you guys modeled the gun yourselves would it be a problem?

I would think they could make thier own model as long as its differant enough from what BF2:SF has.

ya, as long as its not a direct copy, I think it has to be like 25% different compared to the original (heard that from a guy I knew in Flash/webdev class from the India (I think) whos family made jewelry and stuff, they can make something the same design as a major brand, but it has to be 25% different)...

ANYWAY, gettin back on track here... basically just put either an underlsung grenade launcher, shotgun, or flashlight under the barrel and it should be ok I guess...

I *HOPE* They do remakes, because to be honest the unlockable guns look mainly like ****, especially SF weapons. For example the P90 is a black blob and the F2000 has a scope in the same texture as the rest of the gun.

um no dawdler, it was if PR mod could use the weapons if they were remade and not just copied - example: was posted that PR cant use SF guns unless its an SF only mod/requires SF to play/install, so maybe you could get around that by remaking the guns...
