Could we have a different minigun sound for the blackhawks, similar to the A10's, but i mean toned down. (note this is the sound, not the power ) I just hated the default BF2 minigun blackhawk sound, so im just wondering if this could and will be done...

the sound would be like something in blackhawk down... a loud RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

IRL only the 160th SOAR use miniguns on the blackhawks. They use 7.62mm such as M240. However it would be amusing to see 2 GAU-8s mounted on the side of the blackhawk

Someone needs to rename the post so that it actually specifies the topic of discussion.

This kind of fix isn't necessary anyway. By version 1.0, someone will have modeled a new Blackhawk with M240s.

i thought SAW was 5.56...or is there a 7.62 version..like on the tanks....but i really thought that most black whaks had mini guns...w/e...it would probally make the black whack weaker to the 50 cals on other choppers tho

the SAW is a variant of the M249, not the M240.

M249 is the designation for the SAW. M240 is the designation for the various 7.62mm medium machineguns based on the FN MAG.

M134 miniguns are the standard armament on special operations helicopters (Army and USAF). Most regular Army H-60s and Chinooks are armed with M240D/H machineguns, but miniguns and GAU-16 (helicopter door version of M2) are in helicopter unit inventories (not sure if this is at company or battalion level) and can probably be issued to some of the birds as mission and threat level dictates. Marine helicopters I usually see photos with the GAU-16s in the doors or windows.

ok.. im not talking about new models, new firepower, new names, just a sound change...


because the blackhawk minigun sound right now, is not realistic. And i hate the sound of it when i shoot it.

I belief there was some guy that had realistic gun sounds including the minigun, witch sounded pretty good.

No, another machinegun, since as far as I've heard, they usually aren't equipped with miniguns.

Regular UH-60s used by the Army have M240s on it, I think only the 160th SOAR uses m134s

on some maps LBs have both

hence i said hydras and miniguns or just miniguns...

And a whole new Blackhawk model will be needed if anyone hopes to change the gun on it. Reminder its EA made.
