I was wondering if it was possible to have a rope or something coming out of a transport helicopter that the troops can rappel down instead of having to find a flat/clear space to land. Cause on maps like Operation Ghost Train, I think the Merlin and Z-8 helicopters are pointless because trees block the majority of the map, so if they had some kind of rappelling line, troops could be inserted into more areas than if they had to land. Also in Basrah troops could be placed onto rooftops instead of on the outskirts of the city and having to fight their way in. Just a suggestion.

you mean ropes that come down from the chopper?

honestly, It's a great Idea but this is a repost. and an old PR desire many share.
so this thing is gonna get locked so fast it's gonna make our heads spin.

edit: NEW IDEA to revive fast roping:
perhaps if dropping fast ropes is impossible then can it be that exiting a stationary chopper would not kill you unless your drop 25 ft or so it's like simulated fast-roping

I can already place guys on roof tops in basrah. But I'm pretty sure rappelling from a chopper is impossible with the BF2 engine.

If you've got a spec ops guy in the merlin, open the hatch and have him throw his grappling hook out the door. Everyone else can rope down.

This will later be implemented at perhaps version .9 or 1.0.
Whicherver release contains the flying pigs, from which soldiers will rapel from.

In truth, this topic has been VERY VERY VERY much suggested, and stands to be the most suggested suggestion for project reality, to date.
