Unlimited Kit switching...

Ok, I understand that in order to get a limited kit, you must be at main base/rally point/apc etc. and all that jazz, but how do I switch the UNLIMITED kits?

Say I spawned as a medic, but I want to switch to engineer because I want to drive supply truck or something. Is that possible? Or am I only allowed to request limited kits after spawn?

your only allowed to req limited kits! but if you want to change from medic to engi or any other unlimited kits, you need to either suicide or find one from a dead body.

The point of the kit select system is that you chose one kit and then stick with it for the rest of your life.

Though, i agree that there should be a way to switch to the basic kits. If, for example, the last jet just exploded 20 minutes before the round ends and its spawn time is 20 minutes and the pilot just got out of the jet before it hit the ground, he can only chose a limited kit or commit suicide to become a grunt.

I'm against the possibility of situations that require death to get something.

But, right now, there is no way to do it except from killing an enemy medic/engineer/rifleman and getting his/her kit. (Or getting it from a dead teammate - who died from enemy fire, i hope)

I agree that 'basic kits' such as rifleman with or without optics etc.. should be requestable but as Spec Operator pointed out kits are for life, To a certain extent.

If we had downed pilots being able to request engineer kits to fix their aircraft and so on, team play would be less of a necessity.

I had an idea about a 'stock kit' being dropped by a medic/engineer that would only contain their knife, rifle, field dressing etc... This is because the medic/engineer has entered the battle from thier spawn point being fully trained in their role. A trained pilot shouldn't be able to pick up a kit and suddenly have all the training and abilities of a medic/engineer.

It's kinda the opposite of what you're thinking but would be more realistic IMO.

Would be nice if they made a another request button next to the big "REQUEST" button. Should be named "Request basic kit" or something like that.

Would also be usefull for the squad incase they need an medic.

or just right klick on the Request button would be nicer, since it saves slots of the commo rose...

would be useful at times when ammo rifleman or medic is needed in the squad... can be annoyed having to wait for someone to die

but this starts some ammo laming, if u need ammo for example and u got no firebase/Friendlys next to you, just ur rally point, 6 guys of ur squad can just request an Ammo kit and Drop it and switch back to old kit... If u wanna make a basic kit request, u have to remove the old one.. other wise the problem i mention will start soon on the battlefield

Quick Q. If i become commander but i did not have an officer kit on me since i was part of a squad, why do i have to wait to grab the kit. Im the only one who can get it. Im in a rush. People depend on me. Is there any real point to waiting to request an officer kit for commander?

tbh, I think I already said somewhere, that Engineer and Medic should be also requestable like the Officer.

I can't count the times I had everyone in the squad with every kit in existence except a medic.
Then I'd had to go with those guys to get killed and have some respawn medic at a waste of a good assault/defense chance and 6 tickets.

Umm yeah, it's to stop the exact thing you just described: someone applying for commander in the middle of nowhere and throwing out a co post and a firebase just like that.

I think the base kits should be requestable aswell. I mean just cuz that guy was trained as a pilot, doesn't mean he can't pick up a rifle and fire it. There isn't any real realistic way to account for someone switching to medic, or engineer. But then, switching from spec ops to pilot, or any other limited kit isn't realistic either. And the switch time limit is nowhere near long enough to make someone "use a kit for life".

So the whole reality excuse doesn't work here, you can't have your cake and eat it to. Either you stick with a kit untill death, or you don't. You can't make it so they can endlessly swap between the limited kits, but are denied the base kits. I say just add the base kits to the request list, and be done with it. It's no worse then all the limited kits, and would help gameplay. I mean how often do you find out your squad has no rifleman to replenish your HAT ammo, or no medic to heal/rez you. So retarded to have to suicide and wait a minute to get something that promotes teamwork.

Simple solution.
Just limit them to outposts and the mainbase.

To the realism aspect.
Why are you able to change your gear and ability in the middle of the battlefield by picking up an enemy backpack but not at your backward base?
The refitting at the base could stand for changing your place with an other soldier.

Just follow some guy who spawned, and then when he gets a limited kit, pickup the regular kit he drops.

The argument that it's unrealistic for someone to suddenly become trained in engineering or field medical treatment at the click of a button is just an unconscious excuse to discredit the suggestion.

Why does anyone not complain when an engineer picks up a pilot kit and suddenly becomes a flight ace, capable of flying any jet or helicopter at will?

The point is, requesting a medic kit and becoming medical specialist is still more realistic than killing yourself to respawn as medic.

I would also like to point out that, not everyone has a pistol, only pilots, and officers, why not riflemen? im sure they have a pistol with their primary weapon

This was one of the earliest changes in the mod - every grunt isn't issued a pistol in real life, so the same is true in PR.

Anyway, why is this such a hotly contested issue? There are no real reasons not to include it, as long as it's limited to the main base and Forward Outposts.
