Realistic Iron Sights

Hey I was curiouse if it was possible to make the gunshot accuracy control by how heavy your breaths are you know like in america's army when you go in the iron sights

i really dont think its possible with the BF2 coding, i THINK this was discussed before (but that was forever ago) but i could be wrong.

it might be possible to have the sprint bar somehow related to your accuracy MAYBE

I have to say that I don't buy the fact that it can't be done with BF2. It was done for Infiltration on the -original- Unreal Tournament engine. This defenitely should play a big part.

im gunna revive this thread because i would like a clear answer if it can be dont or not, cause it would be awsome if so, if im right when u stand still without using ur ironsight ur gun moves because of the players breath so surely this could be dont with aiming ?

UT engine is much more forgiving than bf2....


that being said, mods have implemented both free aim and 3d ironsights to bf2 engine... would love to see both in PR

Would it be possible to add a constant microscopic amount of recoil to simulate weaponsway?

Also isn't there a new minimod for bf2 with 3d ironsights and free aim?
That would be sweet for PR if possible.

Can someone explain the whole 3d iron sites? I'm probably missing something obvious...also what is free aim? Is that like aiming, but not through the full site? Cause that would be kickass for some CQB stuff...I'd like to be able to point my weapon a little better without the full ironsite vision limitations

You do know that the original Unreal Engine is very flexible don't you? Old engines are very moldable compared to engines like the BF2 engine which allows very limited changes to gameplay. The devs have done some amazing work, sometimes doing what was thought to be impossible, so if they tell you it can't be done you'd better believe it can't be done.

Freeaim and 3D ironsights are both possible for BF2? Why the hell hasn't PR caught on... Well there are some 3D Irons...

I don't think freeaim is possible, (DEV needed here) but the 3D ironsights I think its simplier to be done. Maybe I'm right, maybe I'm wrong, who knows?

3d ironsights = the front sight moves in relevance to your bodys movement realistically. like INF had so amazingly well. and that youre bullets go where your sight is pointing... so if your moving down and your front sight is misaligned a bit high, your bullet shoots the angle the gun would be pointed.

free aim = your aim is not always the center of the screen, like the videos posted show

free aim ahs been done by FH2

we already have a sorta form of 3d irons, the ironsight animations for the support guns show it

Dang, ArmA has a nice looking system there! I watched that video...those guys did a great job. I was a huge OFP fan since before it was released, fun game but certain things didn't flow well somehow. I like the looks of ArmA but I bet its hard to find a good game to play in, I haven't checked it out though.

I was modding my M4 last week for SP, and i got a 3D AIMPOINT working, it was accurate too.

Armed Assault's ironsights are awesome!!!!!!!!!!! I wish BF2 could be like that.
