Quick Hit question

Howdy... Just wondering if anyone has attempted to drop a grapling hook from an arial vehicle. I mean drop it ONTO the vehicle, as opposed to out the door.

Just curious ;)

(I think we can see where I was going with this)

Now for the more serious one:

I was wondering about vehicle damage; would it be feasable (or even possible) to add an 'approximate' guage for engineers while fixing the vehicle? Mechanics can usually tell to a certain degree how fubar'd a vehicle is - even if the driver can't. It would help us vehicle fixers if we could estimate beyond the 'is it smoking / on fire' status of a vehicle.

Forgive me if it's been mentioned in this iteration before.

Stating the obvious, if its in state of smoking, there will be visible smoke rising from the vehicle. If you wrench and count to 10/20, i'm sure that will repair beyond the "on fire" status. :/

Do NOT suggest fast ropes ever again > :|

Also, as far as I'm aware, engineers DO have the ability to see how damaged a vehicle is.

If the vehicle is below fifty percent health, there is a red and black damage gauge along with the name of players in the vehicle.

An unmanned vehicle will not have a gauge, but indicators such as smoke and fire are clear signs that it needs a good fixin'. When in doubt, wrench out.

Saw this cool vid doing doing what you suggested with grapples.

not perfect but if you got organized not impossible.

lol @ video. That doesn't look like it'd be worth all the effort. I mean, hovering the chopper close to the ground meets the same end, without worrying about dropping ropes down and half the squad messing up and falling to their death.

Well if the chopper where above some urban terrain with no room to land its handy. On that location he might as well set the chopper down lol!

It looks kick-*** though! Yesterda I was wonderin why project reality didnt have ropes in choppers! But with some engineers you can! :P

Chopper Insertions look kewler than fast roping IMHO.

There is no need for fast roping anyhow, unless clipping added to wires and so on.
