Look mate your best bet is try making a quick house or something start really simple then move on to things like a car or something then move onto things like weapons and stuff but if you want i can give you a ASLAV model i am working on to try... Up to you...

Try cubes and other geometrics volumes
then move to more complexes objects. U will see how easy it is.
