I'm going to start posting props i'm working on and I'm going to need some help. I started work on a bridge but I don't know what to add to it.

Boolean is pissing me off. I can't make the holes smoother.

Make sure to check out all the tuts or you may find your self asking many many questions that could have been learned there.

Use reference photos if you don't know what details to add. And I agree with Jonny, more buildings are needed. East European architecture would really help some mappers here.

A bridge is not a prop hehe, a prop is a pot, a axe, small little things like that. A bridge is a Strategic object :p

But ye, bridges are pretty damn complicated things, need to be destroyable etc, I would start off with easier things...

Never use booleans. The shell modifier can be useful in making interiors, so long as there is an open face in the object.

1. Yes there was sarcasm in my post.
2. Ok how do I/you make an enterable building what should I use? Shell never really works because it leaves and empty space between the buildings. If I can get past that stupid problem I could start work on some buildings.

OK I'm a 3DSmax n00b but I thought I'd give an explanation of the way I do it...
I' m sure other people do it lots of different (Probably better) ways..

Ok start by makeing a box. In my example it's 20m x 20m x3m convert it to poly. Make sure your snap is set to 10 which is 1m.

Image

OK now change the snap to 2, Change to the polygon tab select the bottom polygon make some quickslices for the outer walls at .2m from the edge

Image

Select the polygon in the middle extrude it -29.

Image

OK select editablepoly and make some slices for the door in my example it's
1.2m X 2m

Image

select the polygon at the bottom for the door and extrude it -20

Image

select and remove the unwanted polygons from the door use Backspace not delete.
Image

OK now do the same thing for the windows in my example there 2m wide.

Image

Go to polygon tab select the two polygons as you see. And make a quickslice maybe 1m up then extrude them 2m.

Image

Now for the internal walls . Ok start by going into the edge tab and select the unwanted edges and remove them with backspace.

Image

Ok now select the polygon for the inner ceiling, and make slices for the internal walls then select the polygons you want and extrude by 29.

Image

I could go on but thats about it, make the internal doors the same way as the outer one. Obviously this needs a lot more detail in the windows and doors and stuff.

j/W were you being sarcastic when yo said that?

Also I just thought wouldn't it be easier to just create a box with alot of edges grab the middle ones and extrude and select the polies delete and cap them with the border selection?
