64 PLAYERS!? Too bad no originization...

I made my new tournament acount today. I had decided that I would just create the acount and then finish up some homework. I got on, and as long as I was logged in I decided to see what was up with the servers. I was astounded to find not 40 people on gloryhoundz, not 50, but 60! I couldn't pass this up, I've never even played with fifty people let alone 60. I got on, and soon enough the server was full up. It was intense fun, especially with aas, so much fighting. It was like a real battle.

There was only one complaint, the battles were terribly unorganized. I, for two of the rounds had squads. I did my best to issue orders and use tactics, and I occasionally got a "okay" or "you got it" and even a guy or two would spawn on me on occasion, but that was it. The only time I ever noticed my squadmates really spawning on me was when I was near an enemy flag.

The worst was on oasis. It was pretty much a free for all. I have to commend one of the guys in my squad for backing me up, but other than that my full squad was nowhere to be found. It was pretty frustrating, I couldn't charge the USMC base alone or with one guy. I had great timing if I do say so myself. I even got behind a rock that was right next to the USMC base where I ambushed many hapless soldiers. Even though I had a great spot, only one guy spawned on me and he died pretty quick. I was allive for a bit there, trapped behind enemy lines, with no backup. I ended getting killed and the enemy and my charge was for not. I did my best to try to organize my men, I told them where to go on the hill and told them I was going to smoke and we should charge, but nobody would follow.

The games were really fun, it's just too bad nobody wanted to work together. I can't wait until the tournament. A full server that is organized will be amazing.

Yup.

But thats the way pub servers traditionally are... I think some of BF's team orientated features [squads, voip et al] go some way to rectifying the problem but you just never know who you're going to be gaming with. PR servers have 500% more teamwork than vanilla, but hey, nothings perfect, right?

Also can't wait for tournament. PR+Structure will rock.

Yeah, I was disappointed by the lack of people sticking by their squad leaders

With the new release, new people will come in. If thier style is to go it alone I think they will get fed up and go back to Vanilla. I was playing on that map and with almost half the team as Support class, noone would give out ammo! Oh well, I was sure cleaning up with the few guys in my squad that were staying togther.

If only people realised the power of working together, you get MORE POINTS, AND you win objectives easier.

Ever been shot by a bad guy and ask for a medic and noone helps you? Pleny of times. Well, this time I went and found one hit the "I need a Medic!" key a few times and the guy stopped, and hit is "Sorry Chief" button a few times, watched me die and then walked away with his buddy.

That's some teamwork.

Wow, thats pretty extreme. Must be the F.N.G's

I find it FAR more fun to be in a full squad that takes its objectives [as designated by the SL] together, in a good tactical fashion.

As Gran said, hopefully the lone wolves will either get bored and go back to vanilla or get with the program. Fingers crossed.

I got on later, and I was extremely surprised at the **** thats spilling over from vanilla. THere was even a guy who C4'd me and another guy out of our chopper! We need battlefield recorder put back on so we can catch and ban these ********. People like that are what ruined much of BF2's fun, we don't need them ruining this great mod.

Maybe us vets need a semi-private server so we can enjoy the mod the way it was meant to be played.

Not all the new players are going to be vBF idiots. hopefully we're going to get plenty of the right people too. Its down to us to put the boot into the fools using gay tactics with our superior strats.

Besides, its bound to happen with the influx of folks because of the .25 release. We've just got to grit our teeth and try to rise above it :(

We had three guys in our squad that were all working together and kicking some ***. I think a lot of the vbf2 guys coming over for the first time are soo used to seeing the type of behavior that it is up to us to show them how to play. Now that the coms are enabled If you are playing on one of the pub servers than by all means use it!!!

I think I teach the vanilla players real quick by PWNING them. The stupid running around and spamming they do gets them shot real quick.

I do still love the frequency I see people bunnyhopping. I wish we could macro in comments to say to them. I would tell them "Keep hoping Noob your just gonna die tired!"

hey lonley!

I think I was the one that zapped you back to life on that rock!! you of course had the opprotunity to return the favor seconds later!! That was a fun round, lots of targets ;) It was like target practice.

It did get frustrating when half of the team went AWOL in the south west, sometimes i wish I had a VOIP that could yell at all of them!!! lol

500% of 0 = 0 :-D .

I was on that server, and i must admit i had some good teamwork goin' on. I was in a squad with "DK Camper" and other. We used Voip, and 1 covered (Leader w/ sniper) while the other two assaulted.

Great fun!

It's all very random; sometimes you will get a great squad that works together, and other time's you'll get a server full of idiots.

Personally, I'm tired of coming in the server to see a bunch one-man squads doing absolutely nothing.

I hopped on the Gloryhoundz server today, the map was Mashtuur, I was on MEC, and US was ahead. The US team had the Mosque, and Power Station was the next flag for them to take. So, naturally, I think to myself "I better go help these guys defend". So I spawn at Power Station, and behold, not a single teammate in sight. So I think to myself "Where is everyone? Maybe they're just hiding?". I open up my minimap, and every single one of my teammates is back at Hotel. So I wonder to myself "Why is my entire team back at Hotel when they should be defending Power Station?". Well, obviously, I was killed when a whorde of Marines came in and took the flag. So I spawned at Hotel seeing it was our only flag left, and what do I find? What was it at Hotel that was so much more important than defending Power Plant? Why had our team decided to hang back at an irrelivant base you ask? Well, I spawn and find 30 people jumping around, shooting into the air, admiring the pretty birds and trees. I find "squads" playing Duck-Duck-Goose in the grass with magical unicorns, and I find medics desprately trying to heal Vodniks with their MedPacks. Needless to say I said a few things in the chat box that I now regret saying.

It's not so much that we lost, it is after all, just a game. It's the fact that there are people in this world that are so stupid they cannot even figure out how to play a game with a very simple objective.

I'm sorry if I missed reviving you Martini. Either I thought you were in place that would be suicide for me to go to, or maybe I was just careless. Either way, thanks for being the only squadmate who worked with me. We did pretty well considering it was just the two of us against that whole USMC base.

I came in at the end of that map Aznlb, you did seem a *little* displeased.

Its the influx of fresh meat, so much whining and sh*t tactics going on. Had to stop playing before I put my fist through my monitor. Its great that more people want to play it but if it continues like this i'm going to kick my pc to death in rage, and i'll really regret that.

I hope it improves, I really do.
