U.S. will face a 30mm cannon whit a .50 ? :neutral:

I think at the water based maps, the usmc will be still used. And about the "problem" with the apc vs apc maps. Maybe the US site will also get some bradlies or tow hummwes to even the thing =)

Asymetric balance for the win!!!

as far as i know the stryker isnt amphibious. i could be wrong about that though.

and maybe the stryker wont be in maps that have enemy apcs, it may only be on insurgency maps.

+1 for stryker only Insurgency.

Like the Stryker the LAV-III is NOT amphibious . You must be mistaking it for the Piranha III which is equipped with propellers for amphibious use. The Stryker is based on the LAV-III, which in turn is based on the Piranha. The same goes for the LAV-25 which is similar to these vehicles and is also amphibious.

Yes the Stryker is not amphibious since the Army is used mainly as an inland force. Marines are the first to fight in any situations and are an amphibious force hence the Navy's AAS* Wasp Class Ships that are used by the Marines.For Example the Essex. These are the primary launch ships for Marines when they hit beaches or are called upon in a situation.

AAS= Amphibious Assault Ship.

The striker with the 105 mm main gun is called a MGS Striker for Main Gun System and the cage, someone called it slat armor, I think, it was an "OH SHIT" after thought in OIF 1, when they realized the thin armor on the Striker wasn't adequate enough for an RPG hit, they had to add it, which now makes it to wide for an airlift, which was it's intended purpose. I've seen them in action, and evaluated their tactics as an OC in Germany, cool rigs I guess (you can rewire the screens for DVD players) and might be switching to them when we return home :shock: {shivers} For a tanker it will be a culture shock, but WTH, my job is a dieing breed anyways. I just hope I would end up on an MGS. Glad to see them coming to PR!

Only M.B.T. can resist RPG... and even there, that depend wich type of warhead and the quality of you're tank. Stryker was not intended to resist RPG anyway it was not required [to resist it] by U.S.Army

Agreed, and you are right. The point I was trying to make, was apparently they didn't think of RPG defenses for some reason, they weren't originally designed to have the cage armor. Thats why I'm happy I'm a tanker and, not wanting to be in on striker. As well, there is one RPG, the RPG29, that made into theater that makes us all nervous. But, fortunately, they are rare.

it has to. did the Army seriously order a few hundred APCs without a scope for the .50 cal (which BTW is extremely accurate, a guy in vietnam put a scope on a .50 cal and took out an enemy sniper from a mile away)

Am I the only one that in the title 'a good question' sounded a bit pompous?

Maybe it's just me...
