is being replaced...i thought taht a newly formed army would get some thing more common ..like SVD's are very common in the midle east...im not saying dont put the new stuff in..its actually nice taht their being put in...just y are the SVD's being replaced?

The MEC have been using more H&K weapons than any others in terms of small arms, so having it replaced by the G3SG/1 will be a nice edition to the MEC. Do not worry, the SVD will still be in game.

Almost all there weapons are HK so why should not the marksman be a HK rifle?

The old G3's kinda makes sense with Iran and all.

What makes absolutely no sense is the HK 23. No army in the middle east fields this weapon.
Afaik the only armies that use the HK 23 is south american armies.

But seeing as its fiction i guess it dosent matter

HK23? I think you mean the HK21E. The HK23 is in the wrong calibre to begin with.

The G3SG1 makes sense as it conforms all MEC squad level small arms together. The layout of all thier weapons (G3A3, G3A3Z, G3A3TGSZ, HK21 & G3SG1) are essentially identical to each other, making transitional training easier. Cocking, magazine insertion/extraction, position of fire selector all the same. From the point of view of making it easier for troops to use and be familiar with any weapon within the section it makes excellent sense. And of course it uses the same ammunition & magazines as the other weapons in the squad, so they don't just have a 7.62x54mmR weapon thrown in amoungst all the 7.62x51mm.

Also, all MEC small arms (save the MR444 and SSG) now follow the general layout of the G3, though in some cases scaled down.

So what are they replacing the MR444 with?

I really hope the insurgents will get at least one New MEC marksmen rifle

At a guess, I'd say the German faction's USP.

Seems a bit too "new" in comparison with the rest of the H&K weapons they have, a VP70 might be more fitting.

Bob, the VP70 would be neat, especially since it's got a stock and 3RB capability, but they stopped producing those before the soviet union fell :/

They don't make G3s, HK53s or MP5s now either.

If the MEC can have licences for those discontinued products why not a VP70?

Or if one really want to be sensible about it the P7 series would probably be a good start.
