here I am sitting in a same Merlin on another place on the ground, howeever I am landed(grounded) on both occasions.

altitude difference 10 units...and btw what units are these(meters?, yards?, feet?) and what are they based on...above sea level ????

i searched but could not find anything about this...

They are indeed based on sea level.

As for the units, I don't really know, but I recall [R-DEV]s throwing about 1.7 meters as being the standard unit in BF2.

thx for the answers guys...and sorry to wake this dead thing again but i have been on holiday :D . however...isn't an altitude indicator that shows your altitude above water a bit weird...would not a indicator showing how far above ground you are be better? or is it the only variable one can use to determine altitude within the engine?

Everything in this freaking game is hardcoded, I'm tired of that word :(

Only thing I want to hear on this threads is a dev saying "Yeah I can do that!"

just a though, does a normal chopper even have altitudes based on ground heights, becuase i don't see how it would be made unless they had sensors underneath, and tbh if you need to land you got your eyes.

It would beg the question:

"Could you possibly read a guage based on the ground if you were flying over uneven terrian?"

The numbers would be a blur going up and down I would think (altho I could see it being handy for landing....)

Just my opinion.

But then they couldn't surprise us all when they reveal shiny new toys that we all believe we can't have!

Don't want a suprise, I wanna know NOW! .. :hissyfit: Waah Wah !! .. Wait, I think someone is named after that?

Nah but the thing is, if you do get a real good suggestion up and running which could be used and the devs implant it, they aren't telling you, so you don't even know if it was your thread that did the trick. :-|

i see your point and a gauge based on the terrain your flying over may not be doable ...more of a altimeter that is based on the altitude pressure as described on wiki about the altimeter...
but i guess there is no difference in altitude pressure in this engines world...or?

probably not lol

btw is this what they call a fire and forget weapon
