for power and durability...not accuracy

my dad was in the polish merchant marines....he shot a AK..he says its hard to hit targets w/ the recoil it has

you know it was made in WW2...so dont expect it to be up to modern standards

It's kinda the opposite of the western weapons; they have range but lack power, while the AK deals a lot of hurt but only up close.

Oh, and automatic fire is only useful for supression and up close and personal spraying. Anything over 10 feet and you won't hit a barn door.

I have an AK variant, it's not fully automatic though. It's a great gun, lots of power and very accurate when I try. With the kick that thing has though, I don't think I'd even fire it on auto if I was able to. Anything further than 10-15 meters away would be tough to hit more than once or twice.

Ok, well I would fire it on auto if I could, but I wouldn't expect to knock an apple off anyone's head.

well you see alot of people class it as the best rifle mainly not on how good it is at shooting, but really on:

Reliability and durability
Very easy to use, you can teach a child to use it in a few hrs
easily manufatured in large numbers
general performance of the weapon is pretty good but no where near the best

If you where just going to go on accruacy etc then it would be pretty low down on the chart.

The weapon is more of a icon than anything else.

It is a great movie IMO.

About the topic, watch this, they tell how powerful the AK is, but also its lack o precision:

In PRv.75, the AK47 has a huge disadvantage in its recoil model. In fact, I'd argue that it's broken. Here's why:

M16 recoil:
ObjectTemplate.recoil.recoilForceUp CRD_UNIFORM/1.8/1.8/0
ObjectTemplate.recoil.recoilForceLeftRight CRD_UNIFORM/-1/1/1
ObjectTemplate.recoil.zoomModifier 0.6

AK47 recoil:
ObjectTemplate.recoil.recoilForceUp CRD_UNIFORM/3/3/0
ObjectTemplate.recoil.recoilForceLeftRight CRD_UNIFORM/-1.1/1.1/1
ObjectTemplate.recoil.zoomModifier 1

What does this mean? Per shot, the M16 rises 1.8 and the Ak47 rises 3.0 (nearly double). Now, that's about what you might expect, but it gets worse... see that zoom modifier? When you zoom, that value is multiplied by the rise. So zoomed, an m16's rise is only 1.08 while the ak47 remains at 3.

M16: 1.8 (non zoomed) * 0.6 (zoomed) = 1.08
Ak47: 3.0 (non zoomed) * 1.0 (zoomed) = 3.00

Technically speaking, every weapon should have LESS recoil while zoomed even if it doesn't have a scope, since theoretically you're holding the weapon more securely in a zoom/sight position than a ready position.

Hopefully we can fix this for PRv.8

Just after, hence the '47 :P

But yeah, its pretty hard to control in game, as IRL I would imagine. Lets hope it gets a little tlc[tender loving care] in .8 though :)

That and Lord Of War is a GREAT movie. Has the best intro ever. :P

Lord of war is one of my favorite movies, a must watch

Spraying and praying is always true when a AK is on full auto.

the AK-47 is better fit in suppressing fire in mass groups of troops. but an AK-47 is not good to use in a urban battle field. the rounds go throw walls and can kill civie. but the M16 it accurate "but in my book not the best weapon" is higher and the smaller rounds don't go throw walls and lower the chance of you hitting a civie or a friendly.

HK has that upper reservoir that can go on the M16

I honest to god hate the AK47. But when your in CQB theres a 75% if not 80% chance you'll winn that (from my expireince at least). Other then the fact it'll save you in CQB its a horrid weapon in my opinion.
