I have a dream!

one day where all the battlefields where connected....

do u know WWII online? its a MMOG on WWII, the battlefield is the French front of 1940 in a scale 1:2 its a very huge battlefield where u have to conquer the city on the map, its a very intresting idea for a game but with a very bad engine, u can drive Tank, airplane, ship or u can be a simple rifleman.

the first time that i see PR my first think its "this game its perfect for a MMOG", imagine a game where u can fly from Kasan to Ejod, where the tank move from Ghost Train to Fools Road to give assist to their inf troop.

I know that this project require a lot Manpower and a lot of money to be realized, and the dev team too few for a game like this. but dont u think that this will be awesome.

"end of the dream"

ie, you want PR to be a MMOFPS like WWII Online?

WWII Online has some good points, huge "map", loads of options of play etc but it also has downfalls, mainly due to the amount of players and the sizes of maps it supports etc. Downfalls mainly being that only 128 i think players / vehicles can be rendered at one time, so you can be easily shot by some one you cant see in a huge scale assault and things like that. If making a new MMOFPS it would take a hell of alot of work to get it looking good, playing well and other bits. Would be really nice, but it would require a huge investment, making a new engine from scratch and loads of other things.

So for the moment, dream on :p

OFP2 looks good, but the problem with it is how many players is it going to support :(

you can do 120 players in ArmA already. you need a hell of a server for that though :(

ye, and its very unstable i hear with that kinda player numbers. ArmA mainly relys on bots for large games.

mmmmmmhh =) dreaming...

but in such a big "world" you would have to pay somehow for the server, maybe like WoW (yeah yeah i know a mod is free, but where not talking about a mod, right? x) )
The other point is, there would have to be somehow a kind of training for everything. So you just dont waste your tank/chopper/plane. Maybe somehow a system where you only use the vehicle in the battlefield you trained for... Hmmmm dedicated squads x)

*dream off*

WWII online is the worst game ever created. i hope Cornered Rat Studios burns to the freaking ground!

let's never mention it again, please.

why do you say that? I only tried a 30day free trial or w/e and thought it was pretty good but not something I would fork out money for each month, thou very little I would tbh.

Have you ever personally been in a server with that amount of players?

my experiences in ArmA have shown me that anymore than 50 players in a PUBLIC (not private) server in ArmA is extremely glitching/laggy/desync/etc. Of course it depends on the mission, scripts server is running, etc. But I have NEVER had a non-glitchy round with above 50 players in ArmA public. Private servers can get away with more... but who knows what the "true" limit is. I sincerely doubt you can get 120 players into a server and everything will be "peachy" with no lag, etc.

Joint Operations did 150 player servers, god knows how, but it didn't lag too much.

i played the game at launch. NOTHING worked properly at all. the game was horribly incomplete, even for MMOG standards. some of the bugs were incredible. highlights include:

* units not appearing to the enemy....there was actually a guy who loaded two PCs into the same battle (one on each side) and took SS's and about half the units were invisible. two tanks that were invisible to each other got wedged into a fort's entrance blocking one side from getting out and the other side from getting in. the chat logged was full of people spamming nasty messages to the two tanks that were blocking the entrance. to the players on each side, it looked like the tanks were purposely blocking the fort because the enemy tank was invisible.

* tank tipping! if you had a PC that was able to handle the crappy WWII online engine well enough to fly, you could fly low and hit tanks with your landing gear, flipping them over. this was by far the most effective attack in the game!

* water that was just terrain painted blue. they actually had to put fences around the ocean and rivers to prevent tanks from 'driving' across.

there's a lot more that i cant think of. those are just off the top of my head. WWII online is a big stinky pile of shit.

Exactly. You played the game at launch. Every game at launch is buggy and glitchy. I played it only a few months ago and I can assure you all of that has been taken care of. I was actually considering signing up for it too. Very fun game and I would defiantly recommend it.

I played the game like, a year ago. And not one single thing you've mentioned was present in the game. I'd recomend trying to the game after it's had time to work out all the kinks before making assumptions. Doing otherwise, quite frankly, makes you look like an ***-hat that's making shit up. You're just lucky you clearified all those problems happened at launch, otherwise you woulda been in trouble.

WTH are you talking about?! i purchased the game same as everyone else. everything i mentioned is fact. if you didnt play it until a year ago then you cant really comment. i am not in the habit of rewarding companies that completely screw their customers. the chances of me ever playing another Cornered Rats game is zero.

get this...there was actually a RAM scam by Cornered Rats Studios in the months following the launch. that crappy company blamed a lack of RAM for their engine's shortcomings and convinced a huge portion of their player base to upgrade their RAM (through a deal on the Cornered Rats website, no less). guess what? the extra RAM didnt make a lick of difference for most players. i honestly cannot believe the company still exists.

also...the game came out in like 2001. i would hope they would have fixed the problems i listed above by now.

again...WWII online was the worst launch of an MMOG ever...EVER! and that's saying a lot cause most MMOGs come out somewhat broken.
