I imagine (its not that different and still balanced/realistic) that there could be a new kind of soft skinned vehicle, the Supply HMMV/truck.
this vehicle would be a regular HMMV/Nanjing/MEC jeep thing, except instead of having a heavy machine gun like the M2 .50 cal or the 12.7mm Kord, the vehicle would have a medium machine gun like the M240 or PKM; and instead of having 6 player spots it would have 5 (like the TOW HMMV); so this is to make room for an extra (1 +1) supply crate (total of 2) that can be dropped by the vehicle.
its logical because the extra supply crate would fit because of the smaller weapon and less bulk of ammo, and because 5 players max can ride not 6. this would add to the 'supply line' concept that I think would add to the game positively.
I think this should be only for national forces (MEC, USA, PLA, UK), not militia or insurgent teams

You cant fit 6 player squad in the vehicle.This is what they are used for mainly- fast transport and it sucks if you need to leave 1 guy behind its like cutting your hand off. But if it has only 2-3 slots then maybe its more like support and not transport.

Back in 0.6 we had such jeeps. They got removed.

I found those small trucks in the training mod...the ones with the wrenches on them? Why'd they get the axe?

I'd imagine having a lighter supply transport would work...except that it'd only be able to drop a crate, rather than act as a supply station on it's own, like the supply trucks. It'd be smaller, faster, and lightly armed. It'd be great, actually.

I think this would be better:

Support HMMWV/Nanjing/Vodnik/Land Rover:
4 ammo caches
2 seats
possibility to request all kits that are available from an RP
if possible gives a repair speed boost to engineer in vicinity.

EDIT: can only be driven by engineers.

That seems way too overkill ... not worth it. All jeeps can drop ammo caches. I really don't understand how it would be beneficial for the gameplay.

-I say you cut the seats in the back of the Support Truck, take some of those out of the maps and add more jeeps. I'm fed up with people taking the trucks that I use as Engineer/Engi Sq SL/CO to build assets and using them as transports.

This is quite a cool idea, but in turn it should be made so that all buildings can only be done via 2+ crates (Truck no longer counts).

(sry for backseat modding, but this is a good topic and I don't want it derailed)

The "supply trucks" are transports though, in reality the trucks used for supply are actually used for troop transport. PR just needs to keep the transport truck (but take away build ability and decrease amount of them in the levels) and make/find an LVS (for USMC) and HEMTT (for US Army) (I don't know others) and then you could have actual Engineer vehicles for being an Engineer. Until then, just keep it as is.

I think they should bring those 2 man humvee back(the ones with the wrench on em), but make it like a mobile command post. Bring up the humvee to a tank in the field, it rearms the tank since it's within range and in the mean time the engineer driving the thing would repair the tank if neccesary. Maybe could put a limit on how much rearming the humvee can do without having to rearm itself back at the main base.

They originally rearmed and if I recall correctly, repaired vehicles like tanks and APC's. I think they where removed to prevent an infinite ammo supply for heavy vehicles. At the time, the humvee and similar vehicles supplied ammo forever, even when destroyed (until wreck died), and this lead to some bombardment issues, as HAT and LAT squads hid their infinite ammo and shot everything.

I'm still one for thinking that the small MEC truck should come back as a 4 seat or 5-seat vehicle, unarmed, and used for scouting (faster than the Vod offroad maybe) or some other niche role.

Where would you put it? The GAZ Vodnik is to be their lighter transport; being amphibious and possessing an enclosed turret.
