A night Al-Basrah alongisde the day version.

Someone was discussing night maps with insurgents in general discussion, and I had this idea for a while already, I searched Night Al-Basrah and didn't find anything like this. Could we have a night version of Al-basrah alongside the day version? The insurgents don't need NVG's as they alrady have several advantages of starting off in the city(wich would be lit) and they have to fight in close quarters anyway with their Ak-47s. Imagine that, leaving the Lit Airport into the darkness keeping your eyes open for IED's hidden in the night. The village and the countryside is completely dark except for the lightposts on the roads that light only certain areas. The burning oil rigs also light up certain areas. The city is moderately lit with lightposts and maybe the mosque. Trying to set the mood a little.

100% agree nice story there BTW. PR needs more nightmaps many fights happen in the darkness

I like the idea, though leaving the city limits (lights) would be suicide for insurgents. Brits w/ NVG's would clean up the dark open fields. Maybe give the insurgents flares to temporary blind the enemy using NVG's!

EXTREMELY great idea!!!
In fact....its bad-***!

Would the Insurgents have use of NVG's if they pick up a brit kit?

Flares don't blind current generation nightvision devices. They have automatic filters that adjust to the light conditions just for those kinds of situations.

No no, insurgents shouldn't gain new kit parts IMO.

Perhaps, though, the civi could have a flashlight in his inventory.

Lights in the city should be relatively bright, while the roadways should have sporadic low lighting because of the streetlamps being the only thing to light it up.

Would be interesting to see how well it would work as a map.

I have a feeling that bf2 would give you an unimpressive version of a flashlight

It would give a new dimension to try to locate Caches and rallypoints(for both sides) in the dark, the insurgents would have to stay in a well lit area to defend the caches. As for the caches in the dark, they'd have to set up a perimeter around a cache and make sure the brits don't infiltrate the lines. Imagine the tracers from a technical or a brit vehicle flying through the night, that would be sweeeeet!

Probably :-)

I can imagine those tracers flying through the night.
Alot more gunfire than in SF.

Probably.

But it'd be worth at least a tiny try if something like this were to be put into play.

Al Basrah night would be awesome - How long would it take a skilled dev to put the night shaders in?

So has there ever been a suggestion made in the suggestion area that actually made it into game STRICTLY because the Devs liked it, and not the fact that the Devs already were making it before the suggestion? Just curious.
