Emergency reload

I know, and love the new reload animations, but some of them seem alittle time consuming, and during a VIRTUAL firefight, time and preparedness are some of the most important things to have on your side.

Although it probably wont get looked into there are 2 ways to go about this


1. Adrenaline works wonders, and in an intense moment some things slow down and others speed up. But what if the player is in a SNAFU and is outta ammo in his current Mag. Would it be possible to either have another key set, or maybe have it so if R gets pressed more than once the reload animation gets sped up, or has its own separate faster one to simulate the adrenaline boost.

2. Guns are designed by designers (duh) and some purposely and sometimes unintentialy placed things into there design to make things easier for the personell handleing them.
So I guess what im going for is similar to tactical reloads. I know its totally possible with most AK variants, with paddle magazine releases.

Okay and now to keep it so the gaming stays fair and it isnt abused.


Pros to faster reload=You got the ammo you need.
Cons= We could tie it into the stamina bar, and it could deplete it to a certain extent

the above link is basically the debate on reload speeds, but mostly regarding the ak, the exact same vid in fact

Keep reloads the way it is because the correct procedure is better than an SL saying, lets move, and no1 being able to sprint cuz they were using fast reloads

ye, like soldiers, insurgents and militia are trained to do reloads like that...

Dang I knew I seen the vid somewhere else, I thought it was on my clan site. Sorry I did a search for Tactical reloads, and quick reloads and that junk, and none seem to be quite like what I was trying to get across. But as for the SL saying move out.



The only reason to use this would be in dire situations ( a realize nubs might use it for every situation ) and if a sl is saying move out right after there was a tactical reload.


1. Hopefully they all didn’t need to express reload or then they are lucky to survive, and probably need to take a break and check there pants and if just one did, he should move ahead and provide cover so the others can sprint while he regains stamina and over watches their movements.

2. They can still move out. and just not as quick or at least not for as long. Im not saying it should take anywhere near half of the stamina bar.But multiple express reloads means someone wasn’t prepared and thus he is in a way punished.


And the other instance is if a person runs up to the targets and is near empty stamina. He also just happens to be nearly outta ammo, and attempts an ambush. Well after he gets his rounds off. he isn’t able to do a express reload because he is to tired, and bogged down. His bad, for he is probably dead.

Count your rounds, when running low inform your squad you need to change and allow them time to give you cover.

I would actually like this ingame IF jamming etc could be done

but, as we who have seen the already suggested thread know, this cannot be done in BF2

point is that if they are skipping steps to reload faster, the chances of having a problem are surely higher? sand getting in mags or something?

Only one reloading animation possible in the BF2 engine, as far as I know.

It's understandable that insurgents or militia not being able to do that, but I've seen vids(on TV) where Russian Spetsnaz agents were trained to reload their weapons just like that guy.

Yeah it's part of the Russian martial art developed for their military...and what that is called has just dropped out of my brain. So it's realistic for them but not so much for insurgents and such.

Its a interesting idea but I think its a bad idea. The whole point is to keep team work up (cover your buddy).

The video is in a dry environment with no incoming fire. Looks Ally as feck but does it really have any practical use?

Yeah, I wonder how fatty there will be able to reload under intense situations when his life is on the line.

the main reason for long reload times is to simulate the time it takes to actually get a mag out its pouch, instead of the vbf2 magic pocket

Didn't we have a thread about this kind of reload not so long ago?

Anyway, no. Bad idea. For a start that means you're wasting valuable magazines, simply flinging them in the dirt. You might need them later. Like when you're down to your last box and need to reload from an ammo box. Reloading like that is fine when you're in the Spetsnaz conducting a raid on a chechen compound. Its a limited operation where the 8 mags on your chest rig plus the one in your weapon will see you through long enough to go in, kill some people and come out to ride back to base in the BTR for tea and medals. Hell, you'll probably have the chance to grab your mags on the way out anyway.

When you're out in the field and you don't know when your next chance to beg, steal or borrow a magazine is you don't want to be losing the ones you've already got. So you fling the old one in a dump pouch and pull out a fresh one. Which takes time.

Well, that and, as KP said, 1 reaload animation for all.
