**Tip I want to Spread Around**

Even the most veteran players might appreciate this:

Someone was asking how to do this today, so I thought that since it was such a vital tip, it could use it's own thread.

Turn English Voice-Overs On!

To do this, go to Options, click on the Audio tab, and then select ENGLISH VO.

This will make it so all teams (Chinese, MEC, USMC) will speak English (or whatever language you bought BF2 in). A lot of you know about this, I'm sure, but it makes a WORLD of difference.

I know it may be an immersion killer to have your Chinese teammate speaking english, but think of it this way: Is it more realistic that your team speaks their native language, or is it more realistic that you can ACTUALLY UNDERSTAND them?.

I know you can read, and even memorize some of the simpler phrases, but I ask you: give this a try. It makes it so much easier, you have to concentrate less, etc.

So many people don't give me ammo or heal me when I'm shouting in their faces for both and shooting at their feet. Not to mention, even the most seasoned Squad Leaders fail to realize the base behind them is being capped, because all they have is some Arabic gibberish, and a yellow message that scrolls up right away.

Do your squad and yourself a favor, and turn English VO on-- you'll be much quicker and effective with the voice chat.

I don´t know anyone who has played for a while and has English VO on. It means that you can´t hear when a enemy nearby is shouting for medic/ammo or throwing a grenade.

Its much more efficient to learn the MEC/Chinese phrases for medic/ammo or actually looking around and use your minimap...

I've often heard a voice that doesn't match the team I'm on and used that to find an enemy wo is close by and kill them so there are pros and cons to your idea

That's true, too, I should have mentioned that.

Either way, I find the good far outweighs the bad.

to be honest, i rather have the native language. although i must say im ALWAYS effective (i read the side bar and im usually intuned to my squad to know whats going on)

one example as to why i keep the native language on.

one day my friend and i were capping the hotel flag on sharqui, we were MEC, and i hear "GRENADE!....GRENADE!" and we both bail out of the spot we were in and took out the US guy. if i would of had english VO i would of thought it was my teamate throwing nades.

i think this is more of a personal preference.

it's fine if you are mec when us is in english and mec doesnt matter cuz it's friendlies anyway, but I turned on English Voices Only a long time ago - I wanna know WHAT they are saying, like the time I heard a mec guy talking about how he was gonna throw a nade, I ran round the corner, shot him, and let the nade explode harmlessly around the corner

You get the message in English in the top left anyway. I prefer the native language for whatever side you are on. Makes it more immersive IMO

I prefer VO off when i'm playing PR. This is so i can hear the enemy and not mistake them for a friendly.
It'd be nice if the Chinese/MEC team spoke clear english but with an accent, not american.

Fortunatly I've got enough SIMKAP to both read the radio messages, play the game and look at the minimap. I would never turn on english voice over, as ReconSweden said you miss out on people throwing grenades, yelling for a medic and other very important info. I honestly dont understand how you can play with english voice over only.

i have it on but it ruins the atmosphere of the game when you get an american voice telling an MEC soldir what to do.

Had been nice if you could have your own team in british english and the other in american or vice verse. BUt I guess that is hard to do, or maybe impossible.

For me, the ideal solution for this would be to give the other teams thick accents, but let them speak english.

It's the best of both worlds, and you don't comprimise identification.

i currently have english VO. but i must say that most of the voice-overs, whether it be english or non-english, are completely useless. too much worthless spam. infact, i've been debating of turning off VO completely.

Well, if you can distinguish between what's over the radio, and what your squad is saying, it's helpful.

I wish I could turn down the volume of when I'm hearing the VO over the radio, and then turn up the volume of when someone is saying something near me.
