I need estimations because i dont wanna waste time installing it and downloading PR and the bf2 patches just to find out that it runs like **** on low graphics. ANyways here are the specs



Core 2 Duo 1.83 Ghz
3 Gigs ram
gefore 8400 M GS

The Geforce 8400M GS can handle BF2/PR on medium-high settings at 1280x800 resolution.

No need for that high res if you are on a laptop.

Should have aimed for an 8600GT M IMO That being said, the 8400GS might make it through.

My 15" lappy does 1280x768. Stretching the screen drastically in a game looks gross.

I have no problem running PR on high at 1280x800 on my laptop:
2ghz core2duo
2gb ram
8400M GS
So yours should be fine too.

sweet. What kind of fps do you get? Is it consistent on all maps?

IMO laptops are not for games.

Absolutely fine. I don't know much about that graphics card specifically, but I think it's safe to assume it's more than powerful enough to run BF2 on high at a decent resolution.

Edit: Varies from 20 to 60 on the two maps I've just been on, although I did have a few programs running in the background and I'm not sure how system intensive those maps are compared to others.

Yea I have never heard of it either, but my last vid card was a 6800GT so I am behind the loop these days. I guess it could always be replaced if need be.

The thing with my system ( 2.5 ghz dual core, 4 gig ram, gforce 8600M GT ) is that it gets to hot to play it right. It freezes up the game and disconnects me...

this evening I played it for 2 hours straight without any problems! The solution? Rais the laptop up with 8 cd's ( 2 under each corner ) and get a big fan to blow at your laptop. Nice cool wind for youreself as well. It really worked! Cool laptop and now disconnects!

Huh.. you must have heaps of fun when the suppression shader kicks in... 20-60 is in the undesirable realm to me... >=60 is where I'd rather play, even if I have to drop textures/details down.

I use one of these Akasa Aluminum Alloy Notebook Cooler I even took it to Iraq in temperatures of 50 celsius and it worked a treat for me

20 was just the lowest extreme. It was normally staying at 40-50, which is perfectly ok for me. And remember, I said I had stuff running in the background, which I close when I'm actually playing (those numbers come from when I was just testing something out, so I didn't bother).

The only problem I can foresee you having is one I run into. I have a 2.4ghz core duo 4gigs ram and a 512mb 8600gt. Problem is the laptop screen is 17inchs and doesn't allow a higher refresh rate that 59hz BF2 doesn't like 59hz so I can't play BF2 off my laptop screen but it runs fine on my TV.

It works, those are my specs with 2 gigs of ram on my XPS laptop m1130 and its fine.

I have a t8300 2,4 ghz , 3 GB and an nvs 140m.
i achieve 3079 Points in 3dmark 06.
A 8400m GS should average somewhere around 1500.
I play at 1440x900 with everything on low except texturfiltering(high) and view distance(100)
In normal play i never dip below 30 and average around 60.
On Fools Road though, fps averages at 30.
A JDAM makes my fps drop, too.

Now relate that to your system

Benchmarks depend on the whole system, not just the graphics... but actually the 8400M GS doesn't perform much worse than the NVS 140M - Notebookcheck: Mobile Graphics Cards - Benchmark List

The NVS 140M is a workstation graphics card, so it won't perform as well for gaming as a graphics card designed for games. According to that site, the 140M is based on the 8400M anyway, so I would expect better in game performance from the 8400M.
