[HELP!] Body Armor During Late Cold War?

Hey,
After lots of searching on different site and on google, I can't seem to find what armor the US would be using (If any, that is) during the very late stages of the Cold war, during the mid 1980's.
It's for my M81 camouflage skins, and I have no idea what to skin onto the heavy soldier models.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

I think that's it. It looks like some people in this picture are using that

Maybe

Trying to get as much done myself, then maybe collect some people to help me. Not sure though, I might just release the skins I make to the public.

Didn't really have armor in the cold war as we hadn't developed Kevlar and ceramic technology to a point where we were sure it could stop bullets.
That would have been what they had. That wouldn't stop bullets, just fragmentation. It got upgraded to hold plates in the 90s.
