Is it possible change the text displayed when someone uses an 'Enemy Spotted' statement, so that a compass direction can be appended?

This would be nice for grunts that can't spot for the map, but would require for it either to be dumbed down, only having N NE E etc, or having alot more voice clips added.

There aren't many situations you get into where you need to inform someone that isn't in your squad of an exact bearing, plus exact bearings are only relative to yourself, unless your in a tank/APC/attack heli team. You can do this through VOIP anyway.

you are aware of the fact that the direction depends on your position?

Sorry, I was talking in an armour context, although it could be used for infantry: player icons flash when they say something, then the enemy direction is worked out from the number like degrees of a circle. Of course this would be a last-resort and secondary to all other communication.

Infantry need to stop using compass bearings for their spots. Infantry should realize that you need to stick in a formation when moving. This will reduce the target acquisition time (135 from my position! Who's position? Where are you? I don't see him!) and just make things easier for squads who stick together.

Infantry only need to know "Contact, Left/Right/Forward/Behind, XXX meters, above/below/near [landmark], hot/cold" and learn to stick to formations.

In a vehicle (armor, aircraft) the bearings are used because EVERYONE has the same bearing numbers in their vehicle. And with armor positions requiring you to be in the same squad to operate the vehicle, you should have voip comms.

If you don't, invest 20 bucks in a headset.

I think it could be useful if used in the very general N/NE/E etc kinda way I mentioned before. But MOST people have mics now, people realise very quickly that you need them to play PR properly, so bearing that in mind it's not very useful to add, nice idea though.

Could be good in certain situations where your working very closely with another squad, but those kinda situations don't happen very often, and you can very easily type basic comms and your squad leader can spot on the map etc, so it'd be rare that it would need to be used.

@Celestial1 : i dont understand you... i worked in PRT and the Compass worked well... Squady stay together and dont spread over the map.... and if you move inside the viev distance (i mean line formation) there isnt a big deviation or you can include that deviation in your view.... or mean you in the desert you can say right on the sand??? if you mean its not good enoth then create your own squad and tell the guyes your rules...

i thing this idear is pritty good... but the problem is thios messages can make ownly as a squad message else it will end as a server spamming...

There's no point in it being a squad message, cos you can already use VoIP to convey bearings.
