I used to frequent the server called thebattlearena


for a very long time I had been on that server. But about a few weeks ago I could no longer see the server listed. I went into my favorite's and tried to join through that, but the name was red and it said 'unable to connect'

I then tried to join through IP, and that did not work. I just got unable to connect error.

Then I tried to join through Xfire and it still said unable to connect.

I've tried many different combinations of filters, and I still can't see the server, or connect through IP or favorite's.

I have posted on battlearena forums and they insist that they have not banned me, so that leads me to think that it is something to do with the game.



I've tried different CD keys, and re-set my IP but have found no fix.

This is the only server that this is happening to. I can join other servers just fine, and I have the newest public version of PR



Can any one enlighten me on what may be the problem?


I've been playing battlefield since day one, and I've been playing this mod since 0.1(when it just had a blood effect and a slower tank turret) and I have never encountered this problem. I have done several google searches, and have gone into the archives of this forum, and others and have found no one with the same problem as me.

i have this same problem. some days i see it, some days i dont.

and when i cant see it, it doesnt let me connect through the ip

For me, its constantly. I have even made new accounts and still nothing.


I have talked to friends, they have sort of the same problem but it's not quite the same.

Maybe they go for 2 days with out seeing the server, then after the 2 days they can see the server for 1 year. then it happens again.


but for me, its constantly.

I will offer a reward to anyone with paypal who puts their time in and finds me a suitable fix.

I can find the IP, I just can't connect through anything.


I've tried it for several weeks and I know I'm typing the IP correctly. I've tried joining atleast 150+ times.

Sometimes I cannot find server that my colleagues are joining, not only thebattlearena.com. Then I just keep refreshing server list but not trough "refresh" button. I'm using game modes list instead. I'm selecting "All" option several times and after that server list is full

Probably this will not help, cause if I remember correctly I've joined "missing server" trough IP several times.

We have a non standard port at thebattlearena so that may be your problem.

Here is the ip 74.86.162.143 Port: 16623

I'm making sure that im typing the correct port.

I'm thinking that maybe the admins on the server have restricted my ISP or something like that. I use Cogeco and live in Canada, Ontario.


Any idea if that may be it?

Thats what my servers look like. I've tried finding it with different filter settings. And making sure that my Game mode is set to ALL or Insurgency.

Few weeks ago I saw the server in my history but it was red, and the map was a satalite and it would not let me join.

I type in the IP like this. Making sure there is no spaces at the end etc...

As I said before, I've made several different accounts and tried different CD keys and changed my IP and I still don't see the server.

I posted on the battlearena forums but no one knew what the problem was so I am posting here.

I've also went into Vanilla bf2 and tried to find the server through there, and didn't see it.

I've re-installed also.

100$ usd for a fix. I'm very desperate to play...

Anybody think of something?

I get this, like I join a server, say iGi or T&T today, join in, then get Problem with your connection, disconnect, when I refresh my server list that server has disappeared... its annoying I dont know how to solve it.

Make sure when to try to join using the IP. You make sure you change the port number as well.

I do make sure that the port is correct.

I had the same issue, but in my case it only showed like 4 servers, and i needed like 10 minutes to find tactical gamer server, its annoying

Try this :
If you have router try connecting your cable only to modem, there is a chance (like in my case) that router is blocking you.May try rebooting it as well (just pull the plug out and wait untill connections settles)


And also did you reinstalled Project Reality AND vanilla bf2 ?

I've manually opened the port of the server in my router options, and that did not work. But I am going to take your advice and restart my router. I'll post here and tell you what happened in like 1 hour

So you only had your cable into modem ?
Or you just opened ports ?
Try restarting modem aswell, if it doesn't work there is a chance that something is wrong with your internet (try contacting your internet provider for more info)
And turn EVERYTHING off while playing (including anti-virus), because that may block or disturb your connections

P.S. Could you play the game normally and issue appeared just now or has it been always like that since you installed PR

I needed to plug my internet cable into my actual modem, and not my Router. and I can see the server now.

For people with the same problem read this:

If you use a router, plug your internet cable into your actual modem, instead of your router.

The problem is, is that your router blocks the servers port. Manually opening the port will not work, I have tried that. I 100% disabled my firewall and that did not help at all. I needed to just plug my internet cable into my modem, and then I can see the server, and join it.
