LCAC and other Hover Crafts

Now, some of you know that the LCAC was intended for BF2, but stupid EA took it out of the mod and said "it will still be in the game, so custom maps and mods can use it but it wont be in any of the BF2 maps". then when we get the game we find out that its not in the game files like EA said it would be. Another grate thing from EA!

But as we all know, that underside of the carrier really just doesn't feel right with only boats in there. I think you guys should really re-make this hovercraft and put it back into the game! Some maps could really benefit from it. On Dalian Plant you can see loads of places there where designed for this LCAC to land. But now just look like odd spots on the map...

Also it might be a idea to make some other hovercrafts for the British.

Think these could be a really fun and add a lot more to your mod. Just think landing a whole team and armor onto the shores of oman

thou bare in mind, this would be super hard to make well. First the codeing of it would be, well very hard. Then you are going to have to animate the hovercraft skirt and load more shit.

I can rember Sven tell me about the LCAC after he came back from the "EA Mod Day" when he got to look at the mod tools for bf2 and play BF2 way before it was out. Said the animation it was just sick.

So if the Devs want to make this, they will need some very good animatiors, modelers (which they allready have but this will still be tougth) and very good coders.

Main bit i worrie about this is that ppl walking on the deck inside while its moving:
LCAC Driver [Teamkilled] Passanger 1
LCAC Driver [Teamkilled] Passanger 2
LCAC Driver [Teamkilled] Passanger 3
LCAC Driver [Teamkilled] Passanger 4

Problem is, the reason it was removed, is that they wanted to place vehicles inside, however, after finalising thier game engine, objects blew up when they came in contact with one another.

These hovercrafts then, if placed ingame, will not be able to carry armor, just infantry.

there is that.... but it IS a great idea! Imagine landing on the beach, the ramp goes down and out comes a couple of humvees or a tank! Woot!

Here's another idea, why not put a few LAV's down there? They are amphibous after all and can be launched from ship! But then again they move pretty slow..... would be great targets for jets. I know! Give em the ability to make a smoke screen that they have in RL! Sure the first LAV would be seen, but the ones behind it would be covered and outta the jet's sight.

maby with some good codeing you could achive somthing.

But still, you can put in smaller hovercrafts just to carry troops?

We are brainstorming ways of doing it, we are thinking of a way to drop vehicles out of an C-130J plane, and may just have to get it so that it acts as a weapon, where it shoots out a vehicle or supply stash and then when it hits the ground, deploys as a static.

But we are busy atm with 0.3 with new gamemodes, importations, fixes etc etc. So never say never!

what you guys could do, is just make a test modle. Like a box, with a funny ramp and vey basic ect. maby even no ramp. Then just try and code it and see what you can do with it. I did see in FH1 and POE1 that they had landing crafts with tanks on in FH1 and the LCAC in POE1 but these where diffrent engines. There could be some way to change or work arround this problem to get it working. Maby add a diffrent material where you put the tanks on so it dosent effect it ect. Ask on the mod forums see if any 1 has any ideas. Its worth a try aint it?

We discovered that at USI, which is why we don't have it

have to controls the same as the controls for a helicopter as this would be the most realistic way of driving a LCAC.(in game)

Since there someone mentioned a hovercraft in a new thread, I did a search to find this.

I don't know anything about this.

So what happened, was the hovercraft idea scrapped?

Think the problem was that it is impossible to transport vehicles on/inside other vehicles.....

They could change it for the RIB.

I got a crazy idea. [Edit: same as [R-MOD]A-10Warthog Pilot idea  ]

What if one of the major Project Reality members actually emails DICE and asks for the LCAC Hovercraft? Comeon what do they got to lose? They can email them and explain a little about PR first (what it offers to the BF2 community) and then ask for the model(with the needed codes) and permission to use it with proper credits given to the real creators of the vehicle.

Just a thought (although a stupid one, but worth the try).
