Squad names

What about binding special kits like pilots and crewmen to squad names, like only a squad containing AIR or CAS can request pilot kits and so on. Or say there be a penalty in pistol mags and no bandages if you are not in that squad.

+ Commander knows which squad is up to what
+ Squads specialize
+ ...

- Too much preparation and names and request stuff, complex
- Can engine allow this?
- ...

what do you think about it? discuss :wink:

Commander cannot see squad names in the commanders screen without using TAB and can see what squads are using what vehicles, so its not really needed

on a 64 server most squads will organise with necessary labels anyway

I think this would limit a squad without giving benefits to the team

Not such a good suggestion, far too easy to exploit to hurt your team, little gain.
Another person makes a CAS 1 squad. They are good pilots and go fly and kill stuff. Team wins.

What would really happen on a pub server if 2 squads were called CAS, and CAS 1 is that they would start fighting over the planes, putting C4 and mines on the runway and aircraft, and TKing each other. I have seen this happen several times.

Specialized squads have been suggested before and are hardcoded.

No, I've just seen it happen over and over. Players are hardcoded. You can't mod stupidity, but you can admin the hell out of it.

Bleh, this ain't a good idea.
Most of the time, 3 guys make a Spec squad, lock it then hog the assets. If you try to use those assets then they whine and ***** at you until the admin kicks you.
Then it's just a sprint at start of game to make the biggest CAS squad that will fly. Yeah, annoying as hell TBH.

Good idea, but several reasons why it must be shot down.

1)player Abuse
2)foreign languages
3)units attached to that squad (for example mechanized infantry.)
4)numerous abbreviations

You sure? I'm sure I remember an epic thread with a very long and detailed opening post, and when the DEVs arrivied they seemed to think there might be some capacity to do this.
