Grenade Damage

I was thinking maybe we could alter the grenades a bit more in terms of what they can do. I remember stories of soldiers being near, or even right on top of nades and actually surviving the blast, but with serious injuries. So I was thinking maybe a simular effect should be brought to PR. Basically the amount of damage a nade dishes out can be random. If its close to you, it will dish out 85 to 100% damage. It gets lower the further away you are from the grenade.
How about adding some cool effects too? For exampl lets remove that stupid "black puff" that goes off when a nade explodes. Don't nades actually explode with fire and such? Also it would be cool if you went temporarily death for a few seconds if a nade went off within close proximity and you managed to survive. Another cool thing would be to have it so that the player falls to the ground if he is standing up while the nade explodes within close range.

The damage randomization would be cool I think, though maybe 90-100% damage would be better. I like the effect of losing hearing and blurring as it is now, I'm not a huge fan of excessive disabling visual effects.
As for the nade explosions I don't think there's any huge fiery explosion that happens when a standard frag nade goes off. I remember seeing M203s being fired on the history channel and I think they were more smokey/dusty than fiery.

smoke grendades need to be redone as they dont just explode with a puff of smoke. they let out smoke emediatly after the arm is released then you throw it and it leavs a trail.
also the bloody things burn for about 20-30 mins.

I think it would be sweet if their was a way to code in that if a player goes prone on a grenade before it explodes he absorbs 70%-100% of the blast and is killed not just critical. Cause so many times a grenade plops right into a team and wastes them all. I have read some Medal of Honor reciepiants of acts such as this that saved their team at the loss of his life.

I love the flash effect when the grenade explodes that is in the mod already! Just had to say that.

Perhaps the randomized damage should be different if you have armor on. Say, up close it would be 80-100% for armored and 90-100% without armor, or whatever values would be appropriate. The armor wouldn't help way too much though because I'm pretty sure that the fragments from grenades easily penetrate the armor.

LOL you seen to meny rambo movies.. sorry to say there is only a blast and well smoke and a shockwave of dust when a nade blows.. not much fire and gasolin smoke and mushroom cloud..

yea only problem is.... frag grenades (such as the ones in use in BF2) are not made to blow you apart from the blast itself... so saying 90-100% damage if you are closer to the nade is pretty bad realism.
the reality is that the farther you are from the blast, within certain limits of course, will expose you to MORE of the fragments from the grenade itself, thereby increasing the chance of getting hit.
all these movies where people get ripped apart from exploding frag grenades are... well retarded.
i would post a picture showing the nice little safety 'cone' you can be inside if you are right beside the nade... but im much too lazy. I think Americas Army did a good interpretation of frag nades... most of the time they blow up and kill you outright from a good distance... but if you can manage to hit the deck and go prone, sometimes you will get harmed but walk away living.
