Views on Insurgent Gametype

I'm sure we all have our own thoughts about what the Insurgency gametype would be in it's optimal and perfect form, but I just wanted to see what the community (and the devs) thought Insurgency should be like. (Warning, some of the following things are near or totally impossible, they are only suggested so one can get a feel):
- Much like current operations in Iraq/Afghanistan
- Lots of patrolling and searching around for caches/insurgents
- Many civilians (40+, impossible, but that's what I'm thinking) to simulate an active town where the Coalition forces are present
- Civilians may provide intel to Coalition forces if they so choose (for which they are awarded)
- Civilians also have the ability to "play both sides" and give intel to both Coalition and Insurgent forces
- Character models/appearance not directly corresponding to enemy/civilian (except with Officer kit)
- Only threatening/fast moving vehicles can be fired upon (again, not really possible)
- Insurgents have few vehicles (practically no technicals or Big Reds)
- Coalition forces must "make rounds" basically having different areas that Coalition forces must pass by during their patrols (no defined path though)

Now, obviously, my hope for Insurgency is more like a military presence, but no defined, large-scale conflict. Some of you may prefer different things, so what does everyone want?

I've always really hoped that we could play an insurgency round like this. I've always really wondered why ALL civilians are for the insurgency cause, and none can help the coalition forces. It would give the British forces a chance to really get some teamwork going and make it a bit more tense. And it would allow the insurgents to be more stealthy and use more hit n' run tactics like true insurgent do. Like you said, this game mode shouldn't be played like a true battle. It should be played more like a small arms rebellion.

What I'd really like to see is some better ways to subdue aggressive civilians, maybe something along the lines of a taser gun/limited number rubber bullets for officers. I'm just tired of having to run down them down only to have them jump, dolphin dive and do all other desperate forms of self preservation.

Anyways, short answer....great idea.

Eh, I wouldn't want anything like the op where it's that close to real life. That would just be boring. Hmm, I can't really think of any changes I'd want right now except to completely remove civilians and destructible buildings, I don't think those aspects will ever work out. Also to implement every possible tweak to make it more realistic like the how the weapons and running works, ect.

Why oh why would you want to remove destructible buildings?! Gorgeous man.. gorgeous when they crumple into a pile of rubble.

Yeah it is fun and looks pretty, but that's exactly what's wrong. They just give people an excuse to blow random stuff up and spam their boom booms. Then once the whole area is leveled it just loses all its strategic value and infantry gameplay. Not to mention it's just ridiculously unrealistic blowing up a bunch of civilian homes for fun, this isn't ww2 carpet bombing. :\

I don't know if it would be possible, but it would be cool. In a 64 player game, have something like 24 US/UK forces and 40 insurgents. Maybe divide the insurgents into sections they can spawn in, so not all 40 can spawn in one spot. But still keeping squads together.

Another idea is to have all insurgents spawn as civilians. But leave weapons around where they spawn. Or maybe have some weapon trucks spread around that you can request kits from. They could even be destroyed if located. But, if you destroyed a truck that wasn't hostile you'd get punished along the same lines as killing a civ.

I agree with the houses, but I'm torn. I like the option, very realisitc, it's the only reason I bought Bad Company; however, blowing up stuff for no reason is bad (but let's not discuss that in particular because then we'd be repeating a thread I made a couple weeks ago) Moving on

Removing them would def. help with making the maps and the gametype (already an unsteady gametype) more stable on servers.
