1. Fresh install of BF2
2. Apply 1.41 patch (typo corrected)
3. Install 809 core
4. Install 809 levels
5. Click on PR shortcut - game loads ok
6. Login - ok
7. Browse server list - ok
8. Attempt to join TCombat server (809)- immediate crash to desktop.
9. Attempt to create local sever - immediate crash to desktop.

No load screen, it instantly crashes to desktop as soon as I click "Deploy". I have uninstalled and reinstalled BF2, patch, core, and levels. Twice.

The following is the error message I receive (when running in debug windowed mode):

It's patch 1.41...

Also, just on a random thought. Do you happen to be running the game in 800x600?

typo. it doesn't change the above.

I think I got that once during the builds... try running a vBF2 local server first to make it build the cache, and then load PR.

Yes. Changing resolution to 1024x768 fixed it. I was running 800x600 because I had done a fresh install and 800 is the default resolution. I hadn't made any changes to the options; i was just trying to join to make sure it worked.

A public warning about this will be good for those who run into the same problem or who run in 800x600 resolution.

Yeah, it's a problem with running in res's below 1024x768. It would seem that with my new fonts I put in for the loading menu also needed to be put in a folder 800 for the 800x600 res. So basically, anyone running with this res will CTD without fail. Don't know why this wasn't reported by any testers, there has to be someone running with 800x600 out there...

oh my... we will have to make it VERY clear in the release somewhere. Will be a problem for a lot of folks I presume.

"Anyone running in a resolution below 1024x768 will crash to desktop upon trying to join or create a server. To fix this, run at a resolution of 1024x768 or above. This bug will be fixed in the next patch of Project Reality."

if it's just a folder couldn't you provide just the folder for people to put it where it belongs?

ummm mine is a lil diffrent i have the resolution setting set on hight so its bigger than 800 x 600 but everytime i try to load a map it crashes on 62% every time

I have the same problem as Luke, anyone know of a fix?
